A private without football a little outside our geography. I feel like this has to be a travel partner coming in with a Carolina football school. Hopefully SC state?

Temporarily, but it obviously won't stay there. We have to make a football add to keep our autobid.

WHY would the ASUN add a non FB school at this point when they are trying to maintain the FCS FB auto bid???

Somebody on this board should know or have a real good educated guess. If I ask this question over on the realignment board-- I get a bunch of ridiculous uninformed opinions from people in Seattle and Massachusetts.

The ASUN wants 14... That's the goal.

The bright side is we got time, because JSU will still play football in the ASUN this season.

This school was mentioned, among four other D2s, in a tweet last September that the ASUN was vetting them. Two had football (UWG and VSU) and two didn't (LMU and Queens). So, it's been in the works for several months.

It makes me wonder if either of those football schools will finally make the move. My fingers are crossed because I miss playing them and interacting with their fans online.

If not that, my next go to as to why, is that they (Queens) are the current D2 dynasty in swimming and diving. Commish Gumbart just also happens to run a D1 swimming and diving conference that's separate from the ASUN.

Thanks for the info. Maybe TTU and TSU ARE joining and FB is not a worry. Or they have given up and have an agreement with another league to share an auto bid.

There are many different ways it can play out. I still think TTU will come, so either

TTU+TSU

TTU+Valdosta/or other D2 football school.

Or TTU+TSU+a D2 football school.

Is it the WAC? Because I've had some out there theories about that one for a while.

My immediate thought upon reading that was the MEAC

Queens Board of Trustees has voted unanimously to accept an invitation from
@ASUNSports. Queens will begin its four-year transitional period into @NCAA
Division I on July 1, 2022. More details to come on Tuesday, May 10.

I didn't realize Queens had a great men's hoops season this year. They were 30-4.

If Incarnate Word doesn’t decide to stay in the Southland, the WAC will have six members in 2023. UTRGV has announced they are starting a program by 2024.
