Importance of OTAs to an NFL rookie

Importance of OTAs to an NFL rookie
If a rookie is on schedule to graduate and walking with his class is important to him, how crucial are OTAs for a rookie? Would a team hold it against him if he wanted to walk with his class?

1- The NFL has changed the May 16 rule regarding graduating players, specifically those who attend schools on the quarter system.

2- More importantly, OTAs are now Monday -Friday for all teams in May. The only issue is that teams can host rookies for a post draft minicamp which is on a weekend but it can only be held on May 6-8 or 13-15.
