Is there a method to the colors on the logo patches for uniforms, or is it up to the schools?
Trying to find out what color combo we will use (gold/black, black/white, etc.) or if it is multiple logos depending on the home/away jersey color. Or is there a set way the conference gets schools to follow?

The common "pattern" I notice the SBC logo guidelines calls for is where a darker color fills the bottom portion, a lighter color to the top (no pun intended) and a white outline. This same pattern is for the other schools (except schools with similar colors like Louisiana and Arkansas State or Georgia State and South Alabama).

So for example, you'd probably see what I have on my avatar for USM, black bottom, gold top, white outline. Marshall, Black & Green; JMU, Purple & Gold; ODU, Navy Blue & Dominion Blue. It is possible we could see our colors switch however to not conflict with App State; the Pantone Golds are technically different.

We'll probably get an official answer July 1 (or before the 2022 football season starts) as to what they officially call for per school; heck, maybe some changes along the way for some schools like Troy since UALR is leaving?

SBC Brand Guide

Based on the current logo colors, I would guess USM would have Black on Top and Yellow on the bottom. The other schools with the same school colors have different styled SBC logos to make each unique. Since App State already has yellow over black, I would guess they flip it for you all. Marshall will most likely be Kelly Green on top, black on bottom, ODU would be Light Blue over Navy blue, and JMU would be Purple over Gold.

ODU had their SBC logo on a 2022 schedule given out during the spring game and it's Navy on top and Silver on the bottom. Which I find disappointing cause the Navy bottom Hudson Blue top I thought looked fantastic. Oh well.

Edit - Now that I think about it, the guidelines do call for variants as well, so you could very well see the Navy bottom, Hudson Blue top I mentioned earlier.

Has USM not put out their SBC logo anywhere? JMU plastered theirs all over the place around the announcement, I remember Marshall having theirs in their announcement video too.

Oh no I'm happy that we're proud of being in the new conference. You shoulda been at the spring game, I think it was every 10 minutes they talked about the fact we were moving to the SB and the attractiveness of the schedule over the PA. I just think that the Navy/Hudson combo looks better and is more distinctive of a brand for ODU, but that's more of a personal gripe more than anything.

I'm just going by the announcement graphic from marshall.edu. It shows Green/Black.

Seems unlikely they'd change from what they've been using doesn't it?

Well, when the announcement came back in October, they used the regular SBC logo in their announcement video and posters they gave out if I remember correctly. In the 2022 schedule, they went with a 2-color version (black SBC with white outline). I think EITG is more or less curious as to what version of the SBC logo we'd see on our team uniforms. Surbadger did post a link to the guidelines for the current schools, but it hasn't been updated at this time to reflect the 4 incoming schools.

Gotcha, yeah I went back on Twitter and saw that just before your reply. I see that ODU seems to have done the same, I guess I just kinda assumed all four put theirs out with the announcement after seeing JMU and Marshall use theirs... I do think the one in your avatar looks good, hope that's what you guys go with!

On the football schedule announcement for Twitter, we used a black over black SBC logo with white outlines. I haven't seen anything from the school done with black and gold yet.

Especially considering it is basically just the opposite of Georgia Southerns when we could have had a more unique version.

There's nothing saying they can't use Green / Green or Green / Black. I was just illustrating the options.There's also an all green version of the Marshall "M".

Those are so much more fun that the red, white, and blue CUSA logos. I like that the colors are team specific with a lot of leeway to taste. Most of them are really sharp. Can't wait till they add our official ones to the guide.
