That's awesome. Looks like 3000+. Marshall's stadium is 1000, but we really need to expand. There is limited room around the stadium to do so.

Would be a mistake not to at least invite FIU for soccer if CUSA can no longer sponsor the sport. They usually put together a good squad. I figure either SBC or AAC will take them. That's one sport they are an asset in. Would work for UCF, too, I'm sure.

I agree. FIU is solid and would help make SBC a force with the new lineup.

GS partnering with the USL2 team is brilliant. The USL divisions are really expanding soccer in under marketed cities and getting some great stadiums built.

This is fantastic news. VERY solid conference, and a great "get" for the Sun Belt. WE continue to rise, together!

RE: SBC Announcement tomorrow on Men's Soccer
The interesting thing here is that we've designed the schedule to model what professional leagues are doing. Teams will largely only place once a week until the end of the season when they'll have a couple 2 game weeks. Maximizes rest, and should increase the overall quality of play.

Nice set up for SBC that adds more to the league. I'm jealous of you who have a men's team.

I wish Troy would add men's soccer. Not sure they would get financial or fan support but I'd be excited nonetheless.

Curious….what is the attendance record? I couldn’t easily locate it. I only saw 500 on a few of the box scores.

It's that you can't just start up Men's soccer, you also have to match scholarships with Women's sports. Most of us already have women's soccer too, so it not only requires supporting (at minimum) two more teams, but also finding a good woman's sport to add.

The student support would be tremendous.

The local support would not. Soccer isn't big in Lower Alabama.

Prior to the National Championship, soccer was an afterthought at Marshall. Now, the expectations are so high that some of the fan base is upset after losing in the fall to Ohio State.

It shouldn’t be hard to get 500 a game, it all comes down to marketing. To many schools do very little advertising of their non-revenue sports. I bet if you polled college sports fans, 99.99999999999% could not tell you who the defending champion is in any sport other than football, mens basketball, baseball and softball.

So glad we are are in the Sun Belt. It’s awesome have proactive conference leadership and to see great things happening. Only had a passive interest in soccer until the championship but have started going to some games. Will be at more games this year.

We added that to help balance out things a couple of years back.
