That would require confidence and self esteem that they don't have. AAC people won't be on the Sunbelt board

Heck, it's not just the SB3. There's one SBC fan (not from a SB3 school) who has posted on this board over 300 times since October. That's about 1/3 of all his saintly posts.

Been sayin all along. Just because the teams left didn’t get any movement does not say anything about the quality of the program. The three that left for the Belt were not killing it. And the 6 that left for the AAC were in markets. If CUSA was going to be left for dead they shouldn’t have left the best programs. CUSA will be a very strong football conference in about 2 years. And the basketball conference is already stronger. WKU would have been crazy to go to the MAC

Well the AAC did add the last 5 cusa football champions. You'd think with all the dead weight that La Tech would have some of those.

AAC school presidents were not going to add a Masters Level school or whatever Liberty is. Fans think it's only about football (and some other sports), but the people who get to vote clearly don't.

If you're referring to current CUSA members of the AAC6, I can assure you this is not true. I'll never understand the "stay of this board" mentality, unless its in regards to trolling.

A number of posters have already touched on the reason the current AAC members maybe unhappy (losing their best 3 programs). I imagine their tune will change quickly. The programs added have the resources to succeed.

IMO everyone seems to have made out well. AAC6 & SB3 seem to be happy with their new destinations and CUSA added some solid programs while retaining a number of strong institutions.

The AAC's obsession with academics and markets caused them to make bad decisions. Academics is very subjective and any high school college counselor will tell you that the US News and World Report college ratings are rigged.

If you showed me LaTech’s record and accomplishments and hid the name of the school I’d be all for them coming to AAC too but after the classless “we have football” stunt and just in general the fan base being horrid towards UAB…. I suddenly feel less sympathetic. I do wish the best for y’all in CUSA tho. Hope it is the second best G5 after AAC, so take that how you will.

Per the US News college rankings, Liberty and UNCC are both listed as National Universities.

LaTech brought UAB football back? That’s a new one to me tbh. I will say that I am appreciative that you have helped us to bowl eligibility and helped us be the most consistent winner in the conference since the return. UAB is 4-1 against LaTech since the team came back.

Our record against you since your return is shameful. I'll agree to that.

But as I've explained before, the sequence of events is clear:

1. You guys drop your football program (foolishly).
2. Our band kindly points out that this was a mistake to your school leadership.
3. They decide to restore the program.
4. You even got to host a conference tournament that should have been stripped away.
5. Football success (including over us, to our eternal disgrace).
6. Your ungrateful post above.
7. Not one word of thanks for our generous support.

It was a joke. This is all in fun. Also, my name is not Keith Gill, Judy MacLeod, Mike Aresco, or Craig Thompson so it really don’t matter what I think or say. Apart from that, I still stand by the fact that LaTech has the nastiest fan base in CUSA. Not everybody of course but banter, ya know.

On a real note, LaTech has one of the smallest budgets in CUSA, about half of the top few teams, yet still fields consistently competitive teams in everything. That’s a big accomplishment. I’m glad for JSU that LaTech and Western are still there so they’ll have some good competition. Can’t wait to go root against y’all in Jacksonville 04-cheers

The Hoop Troop is notorious! They have been "threatened" to tone it down, and they have ..some. Years ago they were awesome! Very clever digs...something akin to Rice's MOB who makes fun of opponents too...just have to have a thicker skin.

And don’t forget the school they left behind who wins in all three sports. LA TECH. But hey they wanted markets.

Dude that was 18 yo kids. You really want to hold a program up to cheers from an 18yo. That really makes you seem a little petty

Another rivalry we will miss...this is the stuff that makes our games against one another FUN. 04-cheers

RE: Welcome to SBC and C-USA compared to AAC
Its very simple, the AAC added UAB and markets. Dallas, Miami, Charlotte, San Antonio, Houston. All big cities. The Sun Belt got three teams who have historically been pretty good and have some of the strongest support, budgets and brands in CUSA. Problem is they are getting all three at historically down moments. And they add the second best fcs out there. Its a pretty good gamble by both. Both conferences continue with their typical expansion strategies. AAC adds for potential TV and sponsor revenue, and with Aresco it works. SB adds for regional rivalries, quality programs and potential. In this case they added some comparably or more prestigious names as well, that will bolster their brand. The remaining AAC folks arent happy because they are adding lesser known programs than what they had (in their opinion) that will harm the AAC brand.
