I know he’s probably worn out after all these years at the FedEx helm but I sure hate to see him step down - I hope his successor maintains the great level of interest in and support of the university.

He's been a figurehead for quite a few years. Spending as much time in Washington as anywhere. Raj has been groomed for this for many years. And his successor is too - likely Richard.

Born in Marks, MS.

Father died when he was 4.

Overcame Legg-Calve Perthes Disease a condition made it necessary for him to be fitted with leg braces and it was necessary for him to use crutches early in his childhood.

Started a small recording studio called Ardent Records while he was still a high school student.

During his time in the Marine Corps, he was awarded two Purple Hearts, a Silver Star and a Bronze Star.

He's still executive chairman - so he'll still have a lot of input at the company, especially on matters of the broader strategy and direction of the company. He will just be less involved in the day-to-day management of the business. Good next step to facilitate the transition.

Hoping this company can continue to be competitive in a world where the Amazons and the Teslas are rethinking how distribution is done.
