Caliapri - Perennial underachiever?
Not saying he's not a good coach, but let's consider his advantages.

1. Kentucky has a tradition second to none.

2. Oodles of cash...I mean the guy makes $9.2 million a year so it's not like they don't have plenty for other levels of the organization.

3. Great facilities.

4. Consistently great recruits.

What are the results?

1 national championship...not taking anything away from this, but heck, Baylor just won the national title with very little of what Kentucky has going for it.

4 Final Fours...pretty darn good.

3 Elite Eights...pretty solid.

1 Sweet 16

1 2nd round bow out

1st round loss as a 2 seed...most recent

1st round NIT loss

No postseason in 2021

Had a pretty good season going in 2020 before the tournament was cancelled so maybe unfair to count this as a down year.

These are very interesting results. You cannot deny that some of these teams have been excellent, but you just wonder why some of these teams look so pedestrian when it matters.

I didn't bother looking up the SEC results, but this era of Kentucky basketball has probably had more in-league competition than years past so I'm not going to ding him for not winning the league every year.

I'm not saying the guy should be pushed out, but if you're a Kentucky donor then do you feel it's the best investment? UK has a heck of a lot of advantages and you have to wonder why Cal can't take advantage of them more often.

BTW, this is not a knock on Kentucky. Bama just bowed out(unsurprisingly) in the first round to a mediocre Notre Dame team that had to play double OT 2 nights ago and then travel across the country for another game. This Tide team has been truly bizarre and frustrating to watch even if they've shined brightly at moments.

This is an examination of Calipari from a distance. What does the average Kentucky fan think?

Here's hoping the other SEC schools have more luck this year.

Cal is a great evaluator of talent and a fantastic recruiter. He's not a coach! He makes no in game adjustments and doesn't develop talent. 1 and dones cover this up. Kentucky could do much, much better!
