Hate to see a coach leave, but have to hope that as difficult as it may be, an improvement is lurking in the background. Sendy most likely already has someone lined up.

He wanted to return to the area. He and Sendy best friends since mid 90’s
at Miami. Great addition. We have a lot to look forward to next season.

You see this often in the coaching profession, football and basketball. Christian's wife has deep roots in the area, from Hudson, and her family still lives there.

Will be interesting to watch. Interesting to see exactly what Christian's title/duties will be.

Plus, he made a boatload of money at BC, so salary was no doubt not a factor. This is good stuff.

Yeah, JC is probably in a position where he doesn't have to make decisions based on financial need again in his life. I have no doubt he'll help the program.

An interesting fancy job title

Asst. Athletic Director, Basketball Administration

Sounds like he could be Sendy's boss LOL

Cost of Living ... even in Hudson/Kent ... has to be much less than Boston. Banking that BC $$$ and living off KSU cash, while building that Ohio retirement nest egg (which is quite nice) has to be a no-brainer. Getting a toe-hold in 'athletic administration' is an eye toward the future as well.

Smart move all around.

Although I am not interested in Coach Christian’s financial planning I am VERY hopeful that his influence will bring back the IMMEDIATE double on post players who can’t handle the basketball. Thing of Beauty

While I remember those days fondly ... I also must say last season's defense, particularly during conference play, may have been among the best EVER at Kent State from an overall team standpoint.

But agree, Christian's post double was a thing of beauty w/Q and Mike Scott. He will be a defensive plus for the Flashes this season, for sure.

First request of the new Assistant Athletic Director, Basketball Administration, is to schedule a home & home with one of the Big 5 here in Philly. Need some KSU MACtion here in Philly! Would love to see the Flashes play at the Palestra.

Christian will be that voice to stress defense in practice while Sendy is stressing... Also defense. We're going to play good defense.

It didn't hurt that Q was a freak athlete and Scott was an excellent defender and athlete. They were a blast to watch.

Christian won’t be able to work directly with players, will he? I thought NCAA allowed only the four coaches to do that.

1/He will be one of the 4 coaches on the bench

2/. His title is a procedural move to pay him more than our normal assistants salary which historically is among the lowest in the MAC.
After 19 years as a head coach, 7 in ACC , he earned the status.

3/. State jobs have a salary table based on position , thus the title.

4/. Coach Fuss left about a month ago to pursue other opportunities.
His title was Associate Head Coach

5/. 4 assistants are Sullinger, Christian , Holt and Fleming.

Hope this clears up any confusion.
