Not sure why we are losing two of our better players. Coach Young lost a lot his first year too, but that wasn’t as unexpected.

Just because they enter the portal, doesn’t mean they are for sure gone.

RE: 2022 MBB Transfers... Going & Coming
True, but my concern is it shows, at least at some level, discontent within the program. We lost our leading scorer from last year in the portal prior to this year. We ended 7-10 in conference and had only two losses in double digits. Might have contended for a top four seed in that scenario. So I’m a little bit snake bit.

I feel for coach Figger but I think he will need more than 5 years to turn the UTRGV program around.

I understand Coach Figger losing holdovers from Coach Hill's program who might not be satisfied with their respective playing time, the direction of the program, or this season's results. But it is a little disconcerting when Figger losses key performers from his first recruiting class. Figger will spin his tires trying to turn this program around if he can't hold on to his top recruits yearly. RayQuan Taylor will be an unfortunate loss if Figger can't change his mind to stay.

Yeah, this is not good at all.

Tarleton’s Montre Gibson has entered the portal as a grad transfer.

This is not a surprise.

yeah, he probably wants a chance to play in the NCAA tournament before his career is over. Brette Tanner should hit him up. Gibson's style of play fits with ACU.

A few things

I love how VC has Nate Pryor listed a forward.

Also on the Liam front transferring out of GCU, Sounds like there are a few Big Sky schools that want him to play heavy minutes so I'm not sure he lands down in the dirty T with dad.

I wonder if Aimaq will end up at another school or get drafted. Seems he was expected be out the door after last season. I’m not sure what he would hope to do in another year of college.

I'm not sure Aimaq won't just go pro. But if he chooses to play college ball one more year, he needs to go to a program where it showcases his talent. Somewhere with more talent than UVU but not so much talent that he becomes just another big man on a loaded roster; like at the higher tier P5 programs.

As a grad student, I would suspect if he plays college ball next year it will be somewhere with a much higher likelihood of getting to the NCAA tourney.

I hope he just goes pro. Too many things can happen. I don’t think he has anything left to prove in college. He’ll either make in the NBA or he won’t as I see it. I don’t see an extra year at the college level really helping him develop more. It could showcase him, for sure, but that’s about all.
