RE: Who you rootin' for?
Keep in mind I've not looked at any of the brackets, so the teams I'm pulling for might be playing the first round.
Purdue. But they're sputtering into the tournament and have typically underachieved in the tournament (except when they're expected to not get out of the first weekend).
Because I live here, I would like for Tennessee to do well. The negative if they do well is all the "fans" that never say a damn thing about Tennessee basketball coming out of the woodwork puffing out their chest.
I've a degree and a soft spot in my heart for VPI, as they're kind of like Purdue. As Purdue is kind of Indiana's little brother, so VPI is kind of UVA's.
From a Southern Conference perspective, I'd like for UTC to make a run. It's tough for Buc fans to cheer for UTC, but UTC doing well would help the Southern overall.

RE: Who you rootin' for?
The Big Ten - 9 teams
Big East, Big 12 and SEC - 6 teams each
ACC - 5 teams
The Mountain West - 4 teams
West Coast Conference and Pac-12 - 3 teams each
American and Atlantic 10 - 2 teams each.
(1) UTC or (2) Murray State or (3) any of the rest outside of the above.

I will never cheer for Chattanooga in any sport.
I would like to see Murray State make the Sweet 16 by beating UK in the 2nd round.

Same I'm glad there is someone else that feels that way. I just can't do it, no matter how it might do for the conference. On the other hand if Furman had won the Socon I would have no issue rooting for them.

I think Davidson will make some noise in the first few rounds.

Yeah, I'll hold my nose and hope for Chatt for the sake of the SoCon. And this kind of situation is about the only time I'll do that. Would be great to see the northern Catamounts do well again, but I'm not sure they have a team as good as those earlier glory days.
Would love to see VPI do well, because of the SoCon connections and the vicinity factor. Same for Murray, too, altho they got a tough draw. In fact, I'm picking VPI to knock off the Longhorns.
I'm going 'chalk' more than usual this year, but I think at least *one* of these will be a winner: Jackrabbits, Loyola, Davidson (not a huge upset pick), with very outside chances of Colgate, Catamounts, and Chatt. And yeah, I know, not going way out on any of those limbs. And that's on top of my VPI pick.

Not sure any of the other SoCon teams could've matched up against Illinois like the Mocs. They've got a beast in Cockburn.

Last 12 seconds. But, on a couple replays, I just didn’t see that last foul on Chattanooga. Looked like a charge to me, knocking the Chattanooga player backwards and out of bounds as he held his arms up. Of course they missed the two shots at the end — a block and a missed second chance.

Win or lose, I'd rather a coach stay on the gas than try and kill a clock. So many easy baskets are passed using that format, and way too many ill-advised shots thrown up with seconds left on the shot clock.

RE: Who you rootin' for?
Watching all these NCAA games is a treat from the old days. Hey, let me date myself. My senior year - we were in some beer joint on W. Market St - place was packed - LISTENING to the University Division Mideast Region semifinal between Michigan and Western Kentucky on the RADIO — yes LISTENING ON THE RADIO. Owner of the joint somehow had it amplified. All were pulling for Western Kentucky - who lost 80-79. Nobody there that night could in any way, shape, or form envision being able to watch all these NCAA games on the big scree, even on TV (there was color TV then) plus, of course, envision all the other technology of today. Called my 98 year old uncle today - WWII Purple Heart vet - he can still tell some tall stories.

Just have to make shots down the stretch to beat the big teams. Refs are not going to help of course. Just got to make shots at the end to win these games.

3/25/22 at 5pm. Who you still rootin for?
Of the 12 still standing going into tonight’s games - 8 are at-large invitees from the Power Six. And yes, the Power Six conferences still play their annual tournaments for …. the MONEY. This Saint Peter’s team is there out of mostly pure old fashion guts, hustle, and butt kicking.

St. Peter’s is playing with the will to live. First 15 seed to ever appear in the Elite 8. A true Cinderella.
