Clemson
NU heads back south, this time to South Carolina to face #19 Clemson. All 3 games are on ACCNX via espn.com.
The Tigers are one of 3 teams in D1 who are undefeated (12-0). They’re a little more balanced than NC State at this moment and certainly not nearly as bad defensively. Clemson can hit (.296 avg.) and their pitching is better than NC State’s right now (2.23 ERA). They’re coming off a 4-2 win over Michigan State on Tuesday.
This obviously will be another challenge for NU. I’d be content with getting one win, but a series win wound be tremendous.
Also Friday’s start time has been moved up from 4pm to 2pm due to impending bad weather.
STARTING PITCHERS…
Friday - RHP Cam Schlittler (1-2, 2.00 ERA) vs. RHP Mack Anglin ((2-0, 1.13)
Saturday - RHP Sebastian Keene (1-1, 2.70) vs. RHP Nick Hoffman (2-0, 2.77).
Sunday - RHP Wyatt Scotti (3-0, 0.47) vs. RHP Nick Clayton (0-0, 6.10).

RE: Clemson
NU beat #18 Clemson 5-3 to salve a win in the 3-game series.
Soph. Wyatt Scotti was excellent once again, pitching 7.1 IP allowing just 5 hits, 3 R, 2 ER, 0 BB with 11 K's. He's now 4-0 with a 1.01 ERA and he kept Clemson off balance just like he did last week vs NCST.
In two starts at NCST and Clemson, Scotti is 2-0 with a 1.26 ERA (14.1 IP, 10 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 14 K's). He's been the best starter for NU thus far.
RSoph. Thomas Balboni picked up the save.
NU is back at home on Tuesday vs. Bryant.

What drew all this talent to NU? I'm going to have to tune into a game.

I'll watch the next televised game. Growing up, basketball and football (wide receiver) were my games. I was a complete embarassment on my companies softball team so baseball is something I've never followed..........but as a NU fan I'd follow volleyball if we were good.

RE: Clemson
Growing up I played a ton of soccer basketball and golf. But my favorite sport to watch was always ice hockey.
That said, there's something special about baseball that makes it different than any other American sport. Always been a fan of the sport, but not necessarily at NU as a student. Hockey and Basketball were my focus and could only give so much time to others which was pretty much just the soccer teams.
Happy to see NU doing well here. Can't wait for conference play.
