RE: 2022 Schedule?
What's the point of playing Mars Hill? I thought we were going to be in the mindset of working towards a championship. That win will do nothing for any potential playoff seeding. Neither will a win over Robert Morris (4 wins last year; spanked by Kennesaw).

RE: 2022 Schedule?
I wonder if these OOC opponents explain the later than normal schedule release. Hopefully the Robert Morris is at least a home and home deal. Why else would we travel to Pittsburgh to play a 4-win team? Would love to see FCS power team as an OOC game in the future. Easier said than done, I’m sure. I know we have NDSU in a few years from now. Looking forward to Furman and Chatt at home.

RE: 2022 Schedule?
Going to have to win our conference to have a shot at the playoffs. The Mars Hill game makes no sense to me, especially when we only have 5 home games to begin with.

RE: 2022 Schedule?
I can understand both sides in the scheduling but I think we should not over schedule. Wins are wins and losses are losses at the end of the year. If we have a very good team and schedule 3 powerhouse FCS teams and an FBS and play them all very close games but lose then we have an OCC record of 0-4. If we go on to win the conference with a 7-1 record that will give us a 7-5 record at the end of the year. Playing the two weaker teams would give us a 9-3 record and the committee is likely to give a higher seed to us than if we had a 7-5 record. I think that is the reason most teams play some easy games every year.

A Robert Morris or Delaware State easy game is fine, but the playoff selection committee literally gives zero credit for winning a game against a non D1 team.

Playing those games makes sense for coaches with young teams who do not have playoff aspirations and they may want to pad their win total to keep them off the hot seat. For those teams with playoff aspirations (especially those who desire a seed), there is no place for scheduling those games. I believe that of the teams who were awarded with a seed last season, we were the only one who played a game against a D2 opponent.

RE: 2022 Schedule?
Five home games? Obviously prefer SIX. Am sure they tried. Had six since 2015 (2020 exception). Of course must travel for the money game. Already had away-home series with Robert Morris. Why revising this series? Strength of schedule — even NDSU opening with a cupcake, warm-up game at home with Pioneer League team.

It looks like they came out today. The first three home games are at 7:30, then the Homecoming game is at 3:30 and the final home game in November will be at 1:00.

How did we end up with five home games, six on the road?

That was supposed to be the case in 2020 as well.
