Huh, Christians will note that Friday April 15 is Good Friday. Why not Saturday, April 16?

A Friday and Good Friday to boot. Why?

Wow 2922.

Today is Day #1 of EMU spring ball. It is March 14, 2022, not 2922. Should not try to fat finger as much... 03-lmfao

(I know: I'll go for a job interview, "Steve, tell me one think (EDIT: thing) you do wrong frequently. Be specific." Me: "I fat finger too often on my computer. And even worse on my tablet. And sometimes the AI on my tablet distorts what I type."

I'm hoping to see quite a few tweets coming out of Spring practice...I'm already fired up for next season, and am looking forward to the Spring game.

Spring Game
Apr 15 (Fri)
Ypsilanti, Mich.
Rynearson Stadium
6:30 p.m.

This sounds good to me. Have it in the evening which is very amenable for those who wish to come to watch. it can be parents/family, friends, recruits, high school coaches, alums, fans, bored Ypsi folks, etc.

Baseball also plays at home that day. I smell an excuse to take a Friday off from work.

BTW, here is Kent's 2022 OOC (ouch!!):

2022 non-conference schedule: at Washington, at (17) Oklahoma, at (3) Georgia, FCS Long Island

The winner (or, if you really think about it, loser) for the title of “toughest non-conference schedule in college football” belongs to Kent State whose trio of contenders literally is a Murderers’ Row. The bottom line is the Golden Flashes are playing at a three-game disadvantage vs. the rest of the FBS.

This is where I agree with Steve on not playing an OOC schedule with too many P5 teams due to risk of injury from the increased physical interactions. However for basketball bring on the paydays so we can have a couple nice home games.

I agree with you. Play a couple money games and hopefully turn the proceeds of one (plus other dollars) into two mid-major home games.

That said, we DID that this past season (IU and MSU).

Hey in 2018, Northern Illinois scheduled Iowa, Utah, Florida St and BYU. They upset BYU by a point and entered the MAC at 1-3. They were, however, MAC Champs that year and flush with payday game cash. Far better opponents than ARMY who we were playing. ARMY, however, is a "body bag" opponent that will hurt you.

Updates so far on Spring Ball? Would love to know how the QB race is going, how the new LB's are performing, who is filling in at Center, how does Swindle and Evans look on the D-line and who has stepped up and is looking good.

I'm desperate for content. lol.

The good that I am seeing is that it appears our in-state recruiting efforts have been stepped up. I'm seeing a lot from existing in-state guys with working with their alma-maters at EMU (i.e. Aaron Jackson with Cass Tech). I think our recruiting particularly as of late has been great.

One thing which should now be obvious. Game time, etc. are all designed to make it possible for a lot of possible recruits, h.s. coaches, etc. to attend.

For anyone attending the Spring game, curious if they will estimate the number 'letterman jackets.'

P.S. I think I stumbled on why OUR game is Friday, evening, April 15. UofM has had their spring game, BUT look here... (we're not going head to head with the MSU game; recruits can attend both if they wish).

APR 16 (SAT) 2 P.M.

That Kent State schedule is borderline unethical. It's one thing to get outshot by the UNC/Dukes of the world. Getting thrashed for 3 hours of football is a whole other beast.

Wow, just saw that. Washington, Oklahoma and Georgia. that's brutal. I understand the payday incentive as an athletic director, but i really think this backfires having so many in one season. Kent State will get absolutely destroyed in all 3 of these games and not only is that demoralizing to the existing players on the team, but recruits and the rest of the country will see 3 blow out losses on scoreboard tickers. That gets a certain reputation that is hard to come back from. I like EMU's approach under Wetherbee which is 1 payday game against a big power5, an FCS, an equal opponent and another tough game but not out of reach.

RE: 2022 EMU FB Spring Ball Thread
last week before the spring game. I cant think of a season in recent memory with so many question marks that I am hoping the spring game can help start shaking out.

1. Biggest question.....QB. Looking forward to hearing who looked good and who is showing any separation.

2. How do the LB's look? This position is in desparate need of an overhaul and Sparacio, Chase and Scheidt (was injured last yr) should be upgrades to a defense that was bad.

3. Kicker..... Big shoes to fill. Is it the new transfer from Oklahoma State or Gomez?

4. Who fills in the big Mike Vanhoeven? Howie? Donellon? Bates? How about Coleon Smith or Dmitri? I was extremely high on our line at the beginning of last season. I was at the Texas State game and I thought our O-linbe dominated. Unfortunately we struggled towards the end but we do bring back a lot of experience.

5. What is the development of Carter Evans and Melvin Swindle? These guys I think are super talented and should be given a lot of P.T.

Thoughts?

I have nothing to add, BUT I'd suggest various posters attend the game and concentrate on certain positions.

E.g., someone may wish to concentrate on OL, someone on DL, someone on LB.

I find it hard to follow a game AND follow 4 DLs and 2 LBs all at the same time.

Even worse trying to follow the QB and OL at the same time. Maybe Rob can watch the OL, QB, RBs, WRs, etc. at the same time but I can't.
