TD Bank acquires First Horizon for $13.4 billion

So, there's a new big bank in town. I wonder if they'd consider sponsoring a stadium?

If anything they're going to have less interest in what's going on locally.

Or maybe they'll feel a need to make a statement to win over the local population. If I were in charge of athletics, I'd be on the phone already.

At the very least, First Horizon has spent plenty of advertising dollars at Memphis games/arenas. I hope that TD feels it is worth it to take over there.

They may throw a bone in for some advertising like sponsoring games but if you think a canadian company just bought a bank in the mid-south and are about to build a stadium for the local college team then I have some ocean front property in germantown to sell you.

In the past whenever a local company gets bought by an outside corp its not good news for Memphis. Too many times the deal ends up costing Memphis jobs and prestige. We will see, hopefully we see more presence from them.

1st tenn spend more money in nashville and knoxville on sports

in nashville, they were the smaller bank and was trying to make inroads

in knoxville, the bank was one of the old jake butcher banks, and they were linked very heavy with UT sports

i worked for 1st tenn and saw them grow from a bunch of individual banks across the state
to a statewide network

i am surprised they have survived this long, all the other banks across the south have been gobbled up
hell, 1st horizon had just bought iberia bank out of louisana

TD Bank Ballpark is a 6,100-seat baseball park in Bridgewater, New Jersey, that is the home of the Somerset Patriots, a Double-A level Minor League Baseball team in Double-A Northeast.

TD Ballpark - Blue Jays Spring training facility in Florida

TD Bank webpage for their sponsorships

EDIT TO ADD: I think our best shot would be if we pipeline players to the CFL. That might garner some bucks.

TD’s American HQ is in New Jersey and they have a large presence in the Boston area. They’re also based in Toronto so the blue jays practice facility makes sense.

I worked there as an intern in 91-92. They operate in the stratosphere compared to the bank I'm with now but they were always considered to be a model employer and terrific correspondent. Hope they can keep some of that intact.

my wife banked with Iberia and the accounts just got passed over (last Tuesday?).
It was evident already that FHN was going to be impersonal.
This will only make it worse, Trudeau National Bank, no thanks.

Iberia was our company bank and transferring over to FH has been less than stellar. At least we all got paid last week. Getting a wire from customers, now that's another story.
