Bruce Parkhill
Came across a couple of Bruce Parkhill sightings online from last year that were interesting to catch up on. Dating myself that I got my degree required, swimming credit from Parkhill:

At 72, still looks like his W&M days. I wish I did! :

My God. Now you have left me with a question for which I have no answer. I have no idea who I had swimming with. I believe that I had soccer with Al Albert and golf with Joe Agee. I also think that I had basketball with George Balanis.

I sure miss Bruce Parkhill. Maybe he would be willing to come out of retirement. He could then hire Tony and Barry as assistants so we could make amends for a couple of bad personnel moves.

RE: Bruce Parkhill
Bruce Parkhill was incredibly popular. He was head coach in some of our finest seasons and games, including the take down of the #2 Tar Heels in 1978 in a sold out (10,000) W&M Hall. He coached through the 1983 season which was our first ever postseason, an NIT bid we lost at Virginia Tech. He was hired by Penn State after that 20 win season in 1983.

His brother Barry was an assistant and took the head coach position in 1984. He was popular though his three seasons got progressively worse. He went 16-12, 14-14 and then 8-20 which featured some huge drubbings. No one else ever hired him as a head coach so I can’t say at the time it was a bad decision to cut the cord. The bad decision was his replacement.

one of Chucks Coaches was Tony Traver, Tony put in the the head coach job when Charlie was hired over him. I know he was very bitter about that and even more so when he wasn't offered an assistant coaching job by Charlie .

RE: Bruce Parkhill
Bruce was great coach and had some strong teams at W&M. My grandfather (Tribe Alum and booster) was very upset when Barry was fired and replaced with Swenson. He did not like Swenson at all!
