RE: Official Game Thread: Chattanooga
I was really pleased at the fight the players showed last night. It's been the rare game during conference season that we scored more in the second half than the first. I was impressed the team was able to close the margin at the end.

Is Oliver the guy? I don't know. I did see some good things this season. The team didn't lay down. That's a good starting place.

I like Yasser and King. Not a bad guard combo to bring back. Seymour showed some good flashes this season; I think he'll be fine. I'm not sure about the rest of the roster; with the exception of Weber, no one really played enough for me to get any sort of opinion.

RE: Official Game Thread: Chattanooga
I am truly looking forward to seeing the transfers that Coach brings in this Spring. We need those bigs to sign with us so we can have ready to play guys down low to make us competitive. Also a wing transfer who can play is must and we cannot forget that David is graduating. We need a seasoned point guard to come in and compliment Jordan as he cannot do it all by himself all year. This time next year is the real time to evaluate our program and see how it is going. I expect it be much, much improved and competing for a championship. I hope for the best in Asheville and then let us get those transfers in here!

Isn't this DeAnthony Tipler, a transfer from Coastal Carolina that is already on campus?

Tipler is a combo guard like King, they both remind me of Tim Smith style, High scorer, wants ball in his hands but turns it over a lot (Smith had more TO > assists in his career here)
Sloan is more of Jennings type, high assists, low turnovers who can score.
Sloan 153 assists, 73 turnovers.
King 69 assists, 60 turnovers.

Tipler at Coastal last year, 34 of each.
as a Soph in JUCO.
20.4ppg 4.8rebs 4.0 assists
43.1% FG, 37.8% 3pter, 85.5% FT
107 Assists, 89 turnovers.

6'0 tall, 170 pounds.

We also have Strothers (and King) Strothers has had more
hype.

And, this makes it pretty clear that things ARE NOT looking up for next season.

Nothing against these guys, but these are three pieces of two teams that currently sit at 27-27 over the majority of a two year span. Although I respect all of their games, and it's clear LA Brewer especially is an incredible athlete, they have not been part of a winning tradition here. LA especially is turnover prone. Sloan at times has been clutch, at other times he disappears. Ty is probably the best of the 3 because he plays the best defense and rebounds better than the other two, but he's not really a scorer.

I happen to know that the coaches are in on talent headed to the transfer portal, especially at center, and one of those is a juco who played at a higher level D1. I know they are also working to get a mid-sized wing player, also likely with experience. We will see who they get - but certainly they didn't have much time last year to recruit much of anything, so let's see what they can do with a full season. I expect Nunez, Hall, & Farah all to transfer. DeAnthony Tripler certainly looks like a good add. Jeremy Gregory is playing at Oak Hill, who currently has signees at Kentucky, Duke, & LSU on their roster, and they play mid major to high D1 recruited talent every night. Kristian Shaw is a good shooter that could fill that wing position, but he will only be a freshman. The kid from Morristown East (Ilic) is 6-10 but really skinny, so we'll see about him. He can hit from range, so that's a plus. Regardless, they have to get size & strength in the middle to be competitive next year, and I certainly hope they get it. But, I'm not already saying things look terrible next year, because that's still very much an unknown.

This is like someone saying, ''I got you something SUPER special for Christmas, but you're going to have to wait until then to open it.'' Now, every day I weigh the box, shake it, and try to pull back the tape, knowing it'd probably ruin the surprise come Christmas morning. Well, at least we may have something under the tree.
I obviously can't say anything specific on a damn message board. If you don't understand why, then I'm sorry for you.
