Does FCS need the scholarship equivalent of the Pioneer League?
It seems to me that with so many FCS conferences being right on the edge of being able to sponsor FCS football that maybe FCS needs a 63 scholarship version of the Pioneer League for some of the leftover schools—

Robert Morris
anyone who gets kicked out of the NEC
Campbell
Gardner-Webb
Charleston Southern
whoever gets left in the OVC
Potentially MEAC schools, of their league collapses

This would allow schools to fill their schedules and have access to the FCS playoff.

Why not simply shore up one or more of the conferences that are currently ‘on the edge?”

That equivalent is currently the Big South.

The Pioneer League is literally coast-to-coast.

Right now between the WAC and Big Sky it's unlikely any west coast team winds up homeless, but I could see some sort of weird football only mergers happening, like some sort of Southland/OVC thing that winds up being mostly division based.

Technically it is, but it's really a midwestern/east coast league with one outlier way out west in San Diego.

One day later, that league appears: the new OVC-Big South.

Well, with the announcement that the Big South and OVC just made we essentially are getting exactly what I proposed. Tho OVC and Big South schools will all have a conference home with an AQ bid for the FCS playoff.

I wonder if they intend to let Robert Morris or and future homeless ex-NEC schools into the mix.

Baring a Howard defection, the MEAC stays safe.

The ASUN can raid the OVC with impunity now that no one will be homeless.

I hope we get Tenn tech and Tenn state. That would leave us with 7 after JSU leaves and leaves us safe if EKU ends up called up to fbs down the line.

6 conference games, an FBS game, and 4 ooc fcs with this ASUN could be a great schedule for us.

That’s a set up Tenn St probably likes too—plenty of room for HBCU classics.
