MyBB Bill Walton's Basketball TV Schedule
This is a public service announcement! This website gives Bill Walton's planned schedule for calling ESPN games.

http://www.billwalton.com/news/437-pac-12

This way you know which games to avoid (or watch with the mute button on). Luckily most of these are past my bedtime and both UCLA-Arizona games have past.

Here's some Bill Walton quotes: http://www.billwalton.com/walton-quotes

I'm embarrassed I'm giving him this much attention. But I refuse to mention his most famous college conference phrase.

This one made me chuckle out loud:

"Greg Ostertag is one of the top centers on this planet."

It would be nutty, hypothetically, if "Bill Dazzle" were a Bill Walton pseudonym and he (Bill Walton) has all you posters bamboozled.

I'm a huge fan of Walton's commentary. Watched the end of the UCLA vs. USC game last night. Bill and Dave Pasch are simply brilliant.

I will literally tune into games solely because Bill Walton is announcing. This is now my most handy website, alongside GameViewingGuide.

There are a couple (fictional?) books about Walton and Pasch solving crimes. Friend of the Devil, and Fire on the Mountain. The Bill Walton Mysteries

Yes, Bill Walton and Dave Pasch team up to solve a kidnapping and murder mystery.

I'm a fan of this one: "If Eric Piatkowski continues playing at this level, he's going to replace Jerry West on the NBA logo."

Bill turned into a comedian way too much. He has the potential to be decent if he would actually be serious like in the NBA on NBC days.

I'm not sure Bill — with his level of eccentricity — can be serious when he broadcasts a game. That would be akin to Dickie V. broadcasting a game in a calm and volume-modest manner.

Here is an example of Bill (wearing a suit and tie, no less) with a "normal" approach to broadcasting. I like the current Bill better.

Yes, count me in for any Bill Walton game. Actual personalities in the announcing booth have been going the way of the dodo bird and that saddens me. I'm not saying that I want him calling Final Four games at this point in his career, but he's brings a heck of life to a random late night Pac-12 regular season game that would otherwise be forgettable. He's a one-of-a-kind.

RE: Bill Walton's Basketball TV Schedule
Bill Walton is natural and authentic with his style. Even if you dislike his approach, you must admit (if you're being honest with yourself) he is genuine, passionate and truly distinctive. Many other color commentators offer a cliched style modeled off the approach of other commentators. They simply broadcast like they think they are suppose to broadcast. And they will use vocal inflection, specific words, zingers, expressions, etc., that, for example, Dick Vitale or some other well-known pro uses. They have to try to be cool, flamboyant and/or energetic — without realizing how stiff and forced their style comes across. They are NOT original.

Bill is an original.

My introduction to Bill Walton games on ESPN was tuning in to watch a Pac-12 early season hoops game in China. I don't know how thick the book from the Ministry of Truth was that was put in front of Walton, but he read it out loud on the air cover to cover. Never listened to him again on purpose.

Do you mean he actually read a book as part of the broadcast, or just that all of his commentary was kissing-up to PRC?

I ask because with Walton, either of those actions would be very characteristic and on-brand.

Kissing up isn't a strong enough descriptor.

Jay Bilas and College Gameday are in Tucson today so Bilas should be calling Oregon/Arizona tonight and not Walton. So you can actually see a somewhat big Pac 12 game without biased Pac 12 homerism if it's not past your bedtime. Dave Pasch is actually calling Illinois/Michigan State today.

Per his website he’s calling Oregon-Arizona but his website also looks like it’s being hosted by Geocities so who the hell knows

Bill Dazzle and Bill Walton are both slender, eccentric, non-mainstream, vegetarian, wordsmithing urbanites.

So on that theme:

Bill Dazzle is Bill Walton what ...

... (a poster on this board) is to (a sports culture athlete/celebrity). Feel free either to name yourself or some other poster.
