Does anyone think Oklahoma has a better name brand, tradition, stadium, EVERYTHING than those two. And go back and look at what happened to aTm when they last shared a conference with OU. ( and aTm was a top 5 team last year.) And don’t forget the suitcase full of money OU ain’t afraid to pop open if needed to get their recruiting game up, mind you in a legal NIL era, lol, okay be stuck on stupid if you want but no way they drop off, even in the SEC WEST.
I agree with you they are unlikely to suffer the fate of Nebraska in the B1G, but I disagree with your last statement. They've won 4 of the last 5 Big XII titles, and that is unlikely to ever happen for them in the SEC. Alabama hasn't even won 4 of the last 5 SEC titles. So a drop off from what they've become accustomed to in the Big XII is almost inevitable.
When you say "drop off", even that's debatable. They're probably not going to win a conference championship 4 of their first 5 years in the SEC but then again neither has Alabama. Do you think Alabama would trade the last five years for Oklahoma's because Oklahoma won more conference championships? Would LSU? They won one SEC Championship! Would Georgia? Same (it was 2017)! Maybe Oklahoma only wins the SEC once. But if LSU, Texas A&M, and Alabama or Georgia better prepare the Sooners for the Playoff than Oklahoma State and Baylor do and they win a national championship or even a semifinal game (they were 0-4 in the Playoff), Oklahoma would gladly trade.

Yes, that is the point. Oklahoma would love to have Georgia's current national championship or LSU's three national championships this century, and we'd trade these 6 B12 championships in 7 years for those NCs. 0-4 in the playoff sticks in Sooner fans' craws. The 2017-18 loss to Georgia especially stings, as OU lost a big lead in that game. The losses to Alabama, Clemson, and LSU hurt, but not as bad. The Alabama and LSU losses came in years when OU was basically the #4 team in a 3-team playoff. The BCS championship game losses to Florida, USC, and LSU hurt, as well. If you can't beat them, join them. Or, in this case, if you can't beat SEC powers with a Big 12 team, join the SEC and build a SEC team to beat them.
There will absolutely be a dropoff. No one connected to Oklahoma expects to be at Alabama's level. Everyone in the world expects Alabama themselves to become mortal once Saban retires. If OU can finish in the top quarter of the 16 team SEC, it should qualify for the expanded playoff. Once in the playoff, anything can happen. The danger is falling into the gaggle of teams in the SEC West below Alabama. If that happens, the natives will become restless, especially if there are repeated losses to Arkansas and Texas A&M.
This is partly OU spin, but the fans are geeked about the new coaching staff. I believe the new coach is better equipped to build a team to compete in the SEC. 11-2 was a down year for OU. There will be a year or two of retooling. Along with the vast, vast majority of OU people, I believe the new coach is a better fit than the former one, especially for the future in the SEC. We shall see.

That's very technical. Alabama has not won 4 of the last 5, but they have won...
...2 of the last 2
...3 of the last 4
...6 of the last 8
...7 of the last 10

Any program can be mediocre. Anyone remember the John Blake days? Or Bama the 15 years before Saban? And nearly any program can become playoff contenders with the right staff.
What’s OU with a loss or two more on average? Ok St.
The SEC is buying high on OU. Like NU, OU is somewhat on borrowed time as being elite, although less so than NU. A step back is bound to occur, and if poor hires are made, it won’t be as easy to recover as it was 25 years ago.
