They are fantasizing that the Top 4 teams by virtue of being given first round bye will sweep the quarterfinals and limit playing to 16 games.

If you want to limit it to 15 games, then limit teams to 11 regular season games, with the CCG as a 12th game. Other teams in the conference could play a flex game for their 12th game, except for those in the playoffs.

The Alliance might schedule the 12th game against other conferences:

ACC Coastal @ B1G West
B1G East @ Pac 12 North
Pac 12 South @ ACC East

With pre-determined hosts the games can be included in season-ticket packages, home fans can make plans to attend, and visitors who have the wherewithal to fly across the country can just get on a plane. It doesn't matter if the game is at Iowa City or Evanston or Minneapolis or Madison or Lincoln or Urbana or West Lafayette, just be sure to pack a warm coat.

Yes, I could see something like this. It just boggles the mind that long time people that follow CFB here think it’s conceivable that they’d play a title game in late January. It’s simply a non-starter. Time Will tell I suppose…

But to modify your proposal, I definitely see them adding a flex game but I don’t see it being an inter conference alliance game. Probably a conference game in mid November at a predetermined location. It’s sort of like World Cup Qualification in that some teams qualify outright while others are forced to play a play-in game. Certainly, it could involve inter conference games seeded 5-12 with conference championships axed.

Having an inter-conference flex game would be an option. Since we would be reducing regular season schedules to 11 games, it might be an OOC game that is eliminated, so the interconference flex game might be preferred.
