It's really frustrating when opposing or national announcers mispronounce names of your team. But when your own announcers do it...
It's infuriating.
Amato's trying to make him a Paisan.
I hate to point it out, but, his name is Carl Armato…..NOT Amato.
I'm sure he wouldn't care if someone mispronounced or misspelled his name. It doesn't seem like the kind of thing Karl would be all that worried about.
Well, that wasn’t my point…..it was to point it out to those being critical of him for calling Coach Burno……Coach Bruno.
NO! No way! 3 posts in this thread criticizing the announcer for mispronunciations and he misspelled the announcer's name!!! Reminds me of calling someone stupid and spelling it stoopid. A friggin comedy routine. And the topper is he replies to his unwitting comedy error by claiming the announcer "wouldn't care"! No apology to the board enduring his idiocy, no mea culpa, not even an oops!
Just wow.

Most surprising is that big red seems to have no knowledge of who coach Armato is: A freaking Huskie legend. Starting point guard for one of the three NIU teams that played in the NCAA tournament. And most beloved by long time huskie fans.

Obviously sarcasm and irony are not your forte. Misspelling his last name (and also his first name) is akin to mispronouncing someone's name. If you expect Big Red to apologize to the board then you should apologize to Big Red. It's a fair and valid point that someone who is an NIU alum, former assistant, and being paid by NIU, should know enough to pronounce the head coach's name properly. Do some basic homework Carl.

Once again, Big Red's misspellings on purpose were based on sarcasm and irony because an individual being paid by NIU to work the game should know how to pronounce the head coach's name. And for the record, Carl WAS NOT "the starting point guard" for one of NIU's NCAA tournament teams. The starters for that team were: Tim "the Marshall" Dillon, Jon Collins, Allen "The Horn" Rayhorn, Keith Gray, and Leonard Hayes. As a long-time Huskie fan, the Rockford Boylan grad was more of a "local boy makes good" story than a "Huskie legend."

I believe Armato was a walk on.

I sit corrected. Leonard Hayes was the starting point guard on that tournament team but Armato was the starting point guard the two following seasons led the team in assists both years. He was a walk on for his first year or two only. Let the team in field-goal shooting percentage one year.

Hmmm...
I don't think so. I have a buddy who to this day almost cries that Keith Gray DID NOT start. Gray came off the bench. (And he did it well!)
So the exact timing of when Armato started --- or who was the starter.... I know he started later in his career. I doubt he started as a frosh. But I know that Keith Gray was NOT the starter, much to my buddy's chagrin to this day!
