Found an SBC logo from the 70's. I know everyone has different vintage logos they like of their school, but I tried to pick the best ones that some on here said were their favorites, or the ones that seemed popular as vintage logos.

A couple things...

I think that was the Panthers' logo when they were founding members of the Sun Belt.

I go back and forth on whether the states without members in these maps should be included or not. KY, TN, and FL. I understand it looks awkward without them there but it also is weird to have states without members featured. Maybe grayed out? I don't know.

Sun Belt should dedicate one week every season during conference play in football and basketball as a throwback week. All teams where uniforms with old logos and/or colors if applicable. I'm guessing Arky St may have to get creative. Are there any other schools in conference who had to change their mascots because of ... whatever?

I had a similar thought on having a throwback weekend for football. It would be good if we could get ESPN on board to help promote it for whatever games we had on TV that week.

Maybe rather than one week it's done for the Thursday games. Sun Belt Throwback Thursdays.

I definitely like that idea. Agree with MonGNARch that teams with a lack of appropriate throwbacks or throwbacks at all could take a similar approach to what some NHL teams did with their "reverse retros". Vegas obviously doesn't have throwbacks but found other things to pay homage to and came up with a solid throwback look. There are cool concepts out there for reverse retros for the brand new Seattle Kraken. Even easier for someone like ODU to pull off with their own history in other sports.

Even teams that don't have that problem, you can still clean it up a little so that it has a throwback look but better. Look at the Caps' reverse retro jerseys compared to the actual old screaming eagle jerseys with the ugly blue and gold. Minnesota has a good looking mashup of old and new, LA and Colorado both made really great mashups of two different throwbacks. ULM and stAte could do similar with mashups of old look, new logo.

Georgia Southern has always had the same uniform pretty much since restarting the program.

But for Homecoming 2013, GS honored the 1924-1941 teams with this modern recreation.

Agreed. Thinking also about how cool it looks to see the Wizards using the old Bullets font. I could easily see the former Indians doing something like that.

Yeah, we need to make this throwback week a thing. Or one league game is a throwback game very week...I guess that'd work too...

RE: Vintage SBC Map
That is my second least favorite App logo. Didn't like in when they pushed it out in '85 and still don't. Some of our more intelligent administrators thought the old one didn't reflect the "progressiveness" of the university. Of course none of them attended Appalachian, so they really could have cared less about the history and tradition of the school. It replaced one that is very similar to the one being used now, which was brought back due to pressure and demand from alumni and students.
