RE: OT - NFL OT Rules
Do it a little like soccer does it. If it's tied and there can't be any ties start kicking field goals. Start at the 50 yard line and get five yards further out if the other team makes one from there too. Sort of like a duel of kickers. That would end it well and there would be no hard feelings. Of course, the kickers would have the luxury of not having a defensive line trying to block it.

defensive holding is 5 yards and with 13 seconds you get 3 plays at most so KC should have been at the 35 (own 35) with one play left unless there's a 3rd defensive penalty.

You rush 3 and have 3 players lined up deep so no one gets pass you if you make a mistake. That leaves 5 on defense to tackle the 5 on offense that is going out on the play. You grab, hold, tackle, anything it takes to put that WR on the ground and keep him there.

What is the qb going to do if all of his receivers are on the ground or a defender holding them and not letting them get off the line? The time it takes to run the play still counts and in all honestly its going to probably throw the qb out of whack and he's going to use enough time that you only have one more play left....

they will have to score a td at that point. But lets say there's 7 seconds left and now KC has the ball at their 30 after the 5 yard holding call. You do it again and now they are at their own 35 and all you have to do is stop them from getting a td and not get another penalty.

I've seen this play out in college the same way and all a defense really has to do is hold, grab, tackle the offense to use those seconds up. No reason in the world to give the other team any chance to make a big play.

But there's no doubt in my mind that two future hall of famers were playing qb in the KC and Bills game

That’s not very sporting

I’d hate to win a game like that

Many games are won by committing a obvious penalty to save a td. How many times do you see a wr break free and a defender grab them? Do you really think there's a difference if there's 12 minutes left in the game or 13 seconds? A OL-man grabs a rusher because they have a clear hit on the QB. Someone jumps offsides and the QB takes a shot to the endzone. Same thing. 30 seconds left in the game and the defense stays on top of a runner for a extra 20 seconds or takes their time lining up. Same thing.

Nothing cheating by playing by the rules and everything I said was by the rules of football. I bet if you asked any player for Buffalo if they could do it over and lose or do as I pointed out...not one would agree with you.

1. Make OT 12 mins instead of 10 mins.
2. Give both teams a possession.
3. Apply current OT rules when the 2nd team gets their possession.
4. A safety ends the game.

I have no issues with a game ending in a tie with the above changes.
Playoff game can't end in a tie though. Here comes another 12 minutes.

Right, so if the game is still tied after 12 mins extend the game an additional 3 mins until someone scores.

Yep.

Friend of mine was upset and said that KC should've had a chance to respond.. I said KC had the chance to win the game and Cincy not even touch the ball.

I know he's your friend, but seriously, WTF? He thought KC should've had a chance to respond even though they actually got the ball first in OT? Doesn't make a damn bit of sense.

There is no OT.

If two teams end with the same score, the FIRST team to reach that score is the winner.

Which means if you’re down 3 with time running out you HAVE to play for the TD.

Or down 7 you gotta go for 2.

You’d also see a lot more 2 point conversion attempts in the third and fourth quarters.

In a tie game you could score a TD + 2 and make it a two score game.

No one else has even addressed this on here, so I guess I will. I like this! Screw OT

I've literally never seen this take before and while I'm not sure how I feel about it, kudos to you for blowing my mind.

EDIT: I mean like, the whole idea of whoever scored the tie first wins

Fanboys my dude.. Fanboys. He's been a KC fan since they won the SB.. Before that he just bounced from bandwagon to bandwagon.

Whereas I've been a Saints fan since I can remember. I can't jump from team to team wherever the wind blows. When the Saints won the SB, I was called a bandwagon fan. I luckily had old pics of me in elementary school wearing Saints gear and posted it to shut him down.

No OT rule is going to please everyone.

I don’t follow the pros as much as I do college, but I split my NFL allegiance between the Rams and Vikings, though I’ve liked the Rams longer. Been a Rams fan since they lost the ‘79 Super Bowl to the Steelers.

Damn you're old 03-lmfao

I get it. Usually for Super Bowls I pick a team unless my wife's team (Steelers) or my Saints (ha once) are in it.

This year I'm torn.. Hate the Rams.. But I like Stafford... Dislike the Bengals, but can appreciate it's been a long time for them and Burrow is a pretty good QB.

RE: OT - NFL OT Rules
Had the favorites won I would have rooted for the Rams over the Chiefs. Had it been 49ers/Bengals I would have rooted for the Bengals. I'm rooting for the Rams over the Bengals because being a long time Lions fan I am happy to finally see Stafford getting an opportunity to win a Super Bowl. I like Burrow and the Bengals and would not be mad if they won but this may be Stafford only shot at a Super Bowl win. I think you'll see the Bengals in a couple of Super Bowls over the next 5 years.

It’s not the same as the Elam ending in basketball but the idea borrows from the concept.
