RE: CUSA Basketball - Week 5 of Conference Play
Anyone could win this conference. UAB is better than this but we are pretenders bc we don’t take “lesser” teams seriously. We play aloof and lazy and checked out basketball for large swaths of every game. We aren’t ready for the pressure of being a “good” team. Incredibly disappointing.

Thanks for re-enforcing the notion that AAC teams are always incapable of properly giving Marshall L's....

Few of our posters have gotten a little arrogant lately. It’s funny going back and reading the Marshall game thread on our board before tipoff.

Since we haven't beaten Western in 4 years; beating them at their place is always GREAT!!!!

A men's win on the road and a ladies' win at home. Doesn't get much better than a sweep.

The progression of that thread is pretty funny. Like a candle slowly burning before it melts down. Can't believe some of you guys called the reffing horrible. If there was was break given in that game, you guys got it. I think you had 2 team fouls well into the second half and our guys were being molested.

Utep wins its fifth in a row. Hopefully this turns UTEPs season around and we can compete with the top dogs in the West. We have the talent and it looks like the team is coming together.

We beat the beat the best in the east, FAU, on thursday. We are beating expectations. Now we go on the road against the top of the conference. Go Miners!

I'm actually a little worried about the Miners. UNT absolutely cannot overlook them. We did that to Southern Miss and had to crawl back. Time to take UTEP seriously.

Reffing is always horrible, especially when we lose.
I didn’t really get to follow much of the first half, but I listened to the UAB radio broadcast the second half, and even they were shocked with some of the calls that went against Marshall in the final 10 mins or so. Our fans can blame whoever/whatever they want, but Marshall was clearly the better team today, and the final score doesn’t really indicate how much of a blowout it really felt like.

Marshall tried so hard to give that game away. You could see how stressed out they were in those last few minutes. Props to the Herd for getting it done though. That kind of win can get you out of a funk.
Funk, hell man we were as cold as I've ever seen.
Very odd this resurgence happened against UAB and without Kinsey.
Kind of saw this coming. I honestly bet on Marshall, this game just had that feeling.
I was at our pre game reception when i learned Kinsey wasn't playing. I bet $400 on UAB. Lol. I smiled in my court side seat as i happily traded that $400 for a Marshall win. First time i bet against us in that 10 game skid. I kind of take credit for this one.

MT is the best in the East until we beat them but thanks.

You have to get us in the second game of the back to backs. Finding out that the opponent on a ten game losing streak was also without their best player last minute was probably the worst thing that could have happened for us.

You just caught us coming out of that slump. Team finally playing to it's potential. Middle should have lost too, we gave that away late on stupid mistakes. Herd is gonna be a dangerous out in the cusa tourney for anyone.

UAB has shown we can lose to absolutely anyone, especially so if you catch us on the 2nd game of a 2 in 3 stretch. I can't see us winning the CUSA tournament simply because of how awful we've been in these games in close succession.

RE: CUSA Basketball - Week 5 of Conference Play
I never commented on the the battle between Loften and Ousmane, and wanted to do that before we play or games this week.
Loften is a beast and he lead the Bulldogs, finishing the game with 20 points, 11 rebounds, 2 steals, and a blocked shot. 10 of his points came from the foul line where he was 10 for 12. Loften only picked up 2 fouls in his 34 minutes. He will be first team all conference.
Ousmane didn't dominate for the Mean Green like Loften did for LT. But, he did a solid job and had a good night in Ruston, finishing the game with 11 points, 7 rebounds, and a blocked shot (the block was against Loften late in the game and helped to secure the win). He used his fouls well, picking up 4 over his 31 minutes played. Ousmane made the only free throw he took in the game.
I can't wait to see this match-up continue on Feb, 26th in Denton. I'll be at this game if we aren't iced in.
