Well, didn't score from the field for the last 2:30, but did knock down 9 FT's. Winning with 22 turnovers is not a great recipe for success...but it worked today.

And, does anyone know why Quinn isn’t playing?

He’s been out of the rotation for weeks, and has been dressed for game days, so there might only be 1 assumption there.

Carroll 18/10 five steals in 37 minutes. Best game of his Tribe career.

If we ever figure out to stop turning it over (22 today), we're going to be pretty good.

We're a super young team, especially with Quinn out of the rotation, and we're clearly getting better. I was a bit panicked at effectively an 0-12 start, but I feel pretty good about where the team is at right now. I'm sure we'll still get blown out a few more times in CAA play, but I think the young core of this team is good, and still has plenty of potential.

Great effort for 33 minutes. Peed all over our legs for the next six. Foul shooting saved the day for us over the final 60 seconds. Not sure why teams don’t full court press us more to be honest. Twenty plus turnovers a game is not a recipe for success. Wight and Carroll with the twin double doubles! Covington had a nice game. Kochera relentless as usual. If this team could ever cut their turnovers in half by March they could cause some trouble at the CAA tourney.

3-3 in conference after our OOC record? I’ll take it! Carroll has been m our best all around player for the last few weeks. Love seeing Wight post a 2nd solid game in a row. Kochera doing his thing in Philly!

It was a significant win and it allows the Tribe to have hope to move into the top half of the standings if they can win at COC and against Elon coming up. I think Drexel is pretty good. Perhaps they are not at the level of UNCW, Towson or Delaware right now, but they are still a good team. Other than the sloppy play with the basketball, the Tribe played well. Despite the final score for Drexel reaching the 70s, the defense was much better today than the last 2 games.

This was, despite the turnovers that made the game close during Drexel's run, a terrific win for our young team.
The guys are gaining confidence and playing very good, aggressive defense.

Everyone contributed this afternoon and it was great to see Kochera and Carroll have their best games of the season.

Here's one other thing that we need to fix. After being up 23 against JMU and 21 today, we coasted too much. If we could just figure out how to keep our foot on their throats, we may be able to turn the corner. All year I was hoping to see improvement. I think we got that, but now we need to step up again and maintain that.

Can’t keep your foot on someone’s throat if you can’t get a shot off because you keep turning it over when the other team presses. Someone else already said it but I don’t know why teams don’t press us in the first half. If they did, I’m afraid we wouldn’t be in many games.

To be fair, at that point Drexel was missing a *lot* of shots. We rebounded pretty well in general on defense I thought.

RE: Game 19 at Drexel 2pm start
We were pressed most of the game, but either they made adjustments or we got more careless after early success. Similar to the JMU game. In this game we broke the press easily at times and it led to some easy offense. That's why they weren't pressing constantly, I think.

Connor took advantage of getting man coverage from weaker defenders in this game. Now that we have other players showing they can produce on offense, it has freed Connor up to play to his strengths.

We definitely out-hustled Drexel for most of the game. We were getting all the breaks, but many of them we just worked harder to get. Carroll in particular had a fantastic game mostly due to working hard. He made his 3s, so his scoring was higher than usual, but earned a lot of his points with exceptional effort.

Ayesa got some run again today, and he looks better than the player that looked like he was going to be buried in garbage time. He's clearly put in work on improving his defense. As a freshman, it looked like he had a good floor sense. If he's learning how to stay with someone off the ball, he'll see more rotation time because we can sure use him as a shooter.

I haven't been able to watch as much this year as I have in the past so I'm asking this question without having an opinion.

Are we running an offense that is predicated on having better players/athletes than the other team? That sounds like a dumb question and maybe it is but some teams run offenses that are designed to make up for a talent differential; I would argue that is what Shaver did. Clearing out and one on one drives sounds like an offense that requires more talent than the other guys.

Our offense is a lot of pick and roll, attack the basket. It's one-on-one after the screen, but the goal is to get slashers in mismatches and let them attack the basket. After the ball screen if the ball handler has daylight it's downhill to the basket. If there's extra defenders, the goal is to find a shooter, but we're not well-versed in that part of the offense yet. I've complained a lot about the offense, and even tonight there were time we reverted to early season form. But it's clear that the team has improved in execution, almost as much as they have improved on defense. I don't remember a W&M team that has demonstrably improved from the start of the season as much as this one has. There's still a lot of room for improvement in reading the defense, but I would think that high school players that see this kind of offense would think it looks fun to play.

THAT’S the Kochera we need every game.

Embarrassing number of turnovers for both teams.

I watched the game today in person. Quinn's sporting a knee brace, and he was limping to/ from the huddles.

Drexel used full court, man-to-man coverage for the first 30 minutes or so. They didn't go to a full court zone trap until they were down 21 late in the 2nd half. Given our collapse vs. JMU under such pressure, I was amazed it took them so long to go that direction.

Nice win. Glad you guys have figure it out some since the OOC. You and UNCW seemed like dead weight coming into conference play and both have figure something out. There truly are no easy outs this season. NU seems to be the closest one, and they rarely get blown out. Its going to be a fun February
