Big Grin One slow day
I think this has been the slowest day on this board in quite a while. We need to get this board going! I don't think we have come even close to beating a dead horse on Ducker, I think we have at least another 20 pages to discuss his transfer.

On a serious note, I haven't seen North Coast in a while. Did he get banned?

Pretty sure he did but have no clue why.

We have an NIU fan that got banned from this board? That's incredibly silly. This is an internet message board and we live in America. Freedom of speech. Never understood why moderators ban fans from a board. Sure there are some people that can be disrespectful and what not, but others on the board can simply ignore them.

Since everyone has anonymity, there are occasions when people go beyond being disrespectful and while this is America, people often forget that even freedom of speech has its limits, i.e., you can't yell "Fire" in a crowded theater. Don't believe moderators have ever banned anyone without much consideration so I have no objection to their having that power and don't consider it to be at all silly.

Agreed, we can keep civil discord on the board with no need to run off on political tangents, name-calling, etc. Who wants to be part of a message board community where people conduct themselves with disrespect towards others? I, and I'm sure others as well, come to this board to discuss NIU.

BTW, I have no clue if this person was banned or why.

Being required to act respectfully, isn’t “silly”.

One of the biggest factors that people tend to forget Is that Freedom of Speech is only applicable against the United States Government. They can not shut your speech down. But when it comes private entities, they can do what they want. Since this board is a private entity and they don't like what you say, they can ban you.

I have confirmed, he is banned. I'm guessing his last post was deleted, because I can only see his last published post. Which isn't bad.

Thanks Hawaii, I know he was getting irate about U of I being absent of a certain male appendage and a moderator told him to tone it down. But he must have gone over that line and post was deleted.

Yea that's the thing, the post that got them banned is deleted so you have no clue. I'm all for warnings first but maybe he got those also.

I imagine that the post is deleted partly so its content does not become a topic for debate. There has to be some protection for the integrity of the decisions that mods are sometimes forced to make.

Damn that hurts. But he was on the roster all year? That shows potential. Maybe he will get another long look in 2022, somewhere else.

RE: One slow day
With so many games coming down to the final seconds I started to wonder if the defense could run the game clock out by holding a ball carrier up? I’m sure there’s a rule somewhere but if a defender held the ball carrier while still moving downfield so as to not stop forward progress, what would be the reason to blow the whistle? Can’t claim the runner is giving himself up. That’s prior to contact. Can’t say forward momentum is stopped. A D-lineman or even big LB would have no problem holding a wr in a bear hug and dragging him slowly downfield.

The rule says nothing about forward progress against your will:

“The Forward Progress of a runner or airborne receiver is the point at which his advance toward his opponent’s goal ends and is the spot at which the ball is declared dead by rule, irrespective of the runner or receiver being pushed or carried backward by an opponent.”

I’m sure it’s not allowed so I’m just wondering how they rule it

Well, that is just silly!

The silliness is in who gets the power to define respectful. This board is for entertainment. Denying me the entertainment of someone's post because someone else didn't like it is "silly". If North was banned his life goes on just fine. It is our entertainment value that has been diminished. I really don't want to live in the BS world where one spectrum of opinion is allowed and another is not. Ban me, too, please.
