Give an honest answer with a hint of fire and the coach/player again becomes unprofessional, not focused, lacking integrity.
Stooooooopid.
For the record: I think fans should be able to holler, scream, berate players/coaches/refs. I don't like to, but do as you please. Media should be able to ask any question they please.
Penny gives honest answers, shares info. He has been candid. The media has done what media does, they use Penny's words against him. This is why Bill Bellichick handles pressers as he does. There is NOTHING to gain for a coach/player in post-game presser. NOTHING.
If Penny had chosen the RIGHT words no one could have said a damning thing about it. Perhaps he shouldn't provide them with the fodder they were in search of?

A reporter asks him if he’s lost faith in his ability to get the job done. Strickland responds with “Stop asking me stupid ******* questions. If we were fully staffed like X city, I think we could do that. We don’t have enough officers. We’re dealing with COVID. Y’all need to act like it. Stop disrespecting me, bro. Don’t do that. I work way too ******* hard.”
Would the same people defending Penny’s response defend this?

Strickland was elected and is paid by tax dollars. Bad anology.
It's a great analogy. Neither his nor Penny's income source is an issue.

I guess I'll be dinged again for so many responses. I don't sit here all day and respond. I generally get up early and browse this forum. I respond to the things I find noteworthy and then go to work. I rarely post from work so...
It is good he posted an apology. Whether the question was or was not out of line the response definitely was out of line. It will fade away much quicker with apology.

Oh hell yeah!
This is the first that I have seen of the apology. IMHO, the apology is easily just as good as the F bomb response during press conference was bad.
He was sincere. He wants what is best for Memphis (Tigers).
The apology reminded me of why we love him...
Now, we have to get back to the task of turning this team/ program around.
That is the depressing part :(

The newspaper that Geoff Calkins wrote for for 20 years lost over 100,000 subscribers in that time; does he think he's lost faith in his ability to get the job done?

Maybe he does and maybe he doesn’t but either way it would be a perfectly legitimate question to ask him just like his question to Penny was perfectly legitimate.

I didn't say it wasn't legitimate. I said it was lazy.

So what should happen to Penny?
I’m not qualified to answer that. I don’t know that anything should happen to Penny. Maybe offer a refresher course on how to handle the media?

I doubt it. Newspapers as a whole lost over 30,000,000. He’s just doing his part.
