This is not a 1-off year… it’s Penny’s program. We all hope he can turn it around, but blaming the messenger & ignoring the problem will not fix the problem.

I didn't mind the question, although he could've phrased it differently. Embarrassed wasn't the right word, but I think it's fair to ask. Having said that...I'm fine with Penny's answer. I like emotion and would love to see more of it from him. A suspension or fine would be a dumb move.

A very public apology as a minimum should have already been made. This won't go away.

Put a freakin' memo in his personnel file and move on. He's got a lot more important things to worry about at this point - the fewer distractions the better.

At performance review time have him lay out a plan to improve his performance next year.

There are times and places where it's no big deal. I use eff bombs all the time but not in public settings within earshot of someone I don't know and most certainly not in what is supposed to be a professional environment.
