Nope. This is exactly where some were predicting we'd end up though, with a hometown hero with a damaged legacy going away mad. I wasn't one of them, I really thought he could do well here and could see him being here for the next 20 years winning games. Wishful thinking I guess.

I thought the same. Penny would coach here, win a few NCs and then retire here in a couple decades. This is all very sad.

Goodman posted the video on his Twitter feed. I don't see how Penny survives this.

I agree 100%. It's going to take a great basketball mind to turn this thing around.

Relieved for ALO in a way. Can't blame all the problems on that kid when there's a bigger problem going on.

There has to be repercussions for his language/actions in the presser . If they suspend him a game --will he walk ?

RE: Penny Meltdown
I believe Penny sincerely loves the Tiger hoops program, the university and the city. And I believe he is trying his best. I give him credit for all that.

But the reality is simple: He is not meant to be a head coach on this level. And his insecurities are getting the best of him, highlighted by the fact that he struggles to look in the mirror and say, "The problem is ... me." The negative body language, the odd responses and reactions to criticism and pressure, etc. It has become glaringly painful what we have here — a train wreck.

As some of the posters previously noted: This is not going to end well.

Admin seems scared of its shadow to put any kind of oversight over the basketball program. Our Athletic Hall of Fame is named after him. It’s such a dysfunctional situation

I mean, I have 3 starters injured on my HS team. We are losing. It’s hard to win with players out. But this presser is unacceptable.

Yeah he loves the TIGER hoops program/university/CITY soooo much that he steered players away from all 3

RE: Penny Meltdown
Hate this for Penny and all Tiger fans. There is no way the administration cannot respond to this in some way - suspension, public apology, etc. Like others, I feared if this didn’t work, it would end with Penny leaving under less than ideal circumstances. This is worse than I ever could imagine. I am sad for Penny and the fan base. Penny has given so much to the university and the city that he truly loves. It is a shame it has not worked out. The team is really not very good and we were all sure of at least a sweet 16 appearance this year. We won’t make the tournament without winning the conference tournament and I have no faith we can even come close to doing that based on our performance so far. Again - sad….

Too much ego.

Hasn't dealt with adversity in his adult life. Only adversity he had was the injury and he definitely didn't come out of that with flying colors
