This would certainly hurt the other G5 schools in the region when it came to recruiting New Orleans kids. They have been saying this for at least the last 30 years and still have not started a team.

RE: OT: UNO looking into adding football
UNO is an original member of the SBC. After Katrina they were just happy to survive as a school and suspended sports for a little while. If they were to start football, I think it would be at the FCS level and stay in the Southland.

To me New Orleans college football will always be Tulane, after all, they are in the downtown area, where UNO is on the lake front.

No one in the ULS would approve that...not a soul

New Orleans is mostly a LSU town. While closer to the heart of the city, Tulane is uptown, a ways away from downtown unless you count the medical center.

Tulane's main campus is actually uptown and their stadium is as well. I don't believe they play any games in the Superdome anymore, but they could if a big team came in town. They could play in this stadium or rent Tulane's stadium.

To me, New Orleans football will always be Tulane punting on 3rd down against USM in 2006 in the middle of a brutal 31-3 beat down.

I'd rather have a sister working in a brothel than her attend Tulane.

When I lived in Lafayette LA, I got to know 6 Tulane grads while being a hockey fan there. All 6 were in Baton Rouge on Sat and donated to LSU and not Tulane. And 4 of the 6 had a significant bank account.

Surprised they were college football fans at all. All the kids that went to Tulane Law with my wife could care less about college football. Everyone was from either California or the Northeast.

Tad Gormley

I don't blame the students for wanting football. Division II, IMO would be a good fit for them.

Yes, and they gave it to her for free, but she had to work in the brothel for room and board.

For a split second I read this as, "UNC looking into adding football."

I was like, "Yeah, it's about time Chapel Hill fielded a team!"

That's not typical Tulane grad though. Most Tulane alums either hate LSU or couldn't care less about sports in general.
