RE: OT: Huntington, WV Reporter Gets Hit By Car, Goes Viral
Tim Tweeted out earlier she's going to give a full account of what happened tonight at some point. Guess the network wanted everyone to know she's good after it made its rounds on the internet today lol

We'll, it's smart to have as much coverage of the event as possible, since it will no doubt be the lead and most watched part of the broadcast in arguably years.

Great way for her to announce she’s leaving WSAZ too. And yeah, I thought Tim’s reaction was cold until I learned he only had audio because it was a live shoot.

Tim Irr is a highly respected broadcast lead on the #1 news show in the Huntington/Charleston WV market.
He was not able to see the event go down and only had audio when the car smacks into the field reporter.
Tim (I wouldn't say Highly Respected LOL) only had an audio feed when this happened so he didn't really know what happened.
Also, having a reporter on the side of the road without a camera man and not wearing reflective gear is extremely dangerous. A camera man could have at least warned her the car was coming.

They don't always have their own camera man. The local news people down here sometimes have to setup the camera and filmed their reports on the spot. Then they go back and edit them. I didn't know that is how it worked either.

Locally they used to have camera men, now they set up the camera themselves and report just as you said.
But in this situation... dark outside, snowing and on the side of a road a reporter should have some help out there under those conditions.
