Monday's Musings Ball State Barometer
Back after my short trip the portal. My name image and likeness was not worth more then a dozen wings at Powells. Here are the musings.
I am using Ball State as the barometer for the big two sports for evaluation. If our team can beat them I will be more hopeful we can win the MAC west, if we can't I know we cant are are mediocre at best. Although we are better than we were when I was in school we still have a long way to go to glory.
Interesting offer from Game Above, he didn't say no. I have some Name Image Location questions.
Who pays the taxes on this money'?
Is the money given to players tax deductible?
I think NCAA will find some balance with NiL and it's not bad some players will make some life changing money but the average might get a nice used car.

For those who complain about our (EMU FB) record and standing in FBS.

According to this thread, quoting TheAthletic, EMU FB is #4 in the MAC. No reason for a parade, but no reason to get one bowel's in an uproar.

Ty Groce came to D.C. with Butler to
play G'Town.

Zero points. :(

I believe if we had Ty, we would be the second best team to Ohio in the MAC. I hope he’s enjoying the bigger atmosphere - but players don’t want to be on the bench. Believe me, Ty has battled enough P5 players in summer leagues, scrimmages against UofM etc to understand his capability. Ultimately the Butler system could have been a bad fit for him.

I completely agree with this assessment! Ty, athletically was above the MAC level, his ability to finish at the rim was as well, but his inability to consistently hit the 15-20 footer was not.........And, I've watched him play 3 times, and he has struggled!

I watched half of the UofM/IL game. Now, both EMU and UofM are 7 - 7.

Guess Washtenaw County is 'football country.'

Two VERY different records. I’m sure neither fan base thought they’d be 7-7 at this point, but for opposite reasons.

Schlissel was the clear definition of an "U-M arrogant as-hole". In my opinion, he was a pompous jerk with little regard for the Midwest. Unfortunately, he will most likely ride off into the sunset with a lucrative golden parachute.

Being a college President comes with a great deal of scrutiny, as witnessed by the media coverage of Susan Martin's cocktail hour behavior, which I personally filed into the "no harm-no foul" folder.

I suppose if I were a real "busybody" I could have snapped a picture of James Smith sitting in his box mask-less when I departed the CMU game. After all, spectators are required to wear face coverings and yet the University President is not in compliance. I don't like watching games with a mask on either! At the end of the day, however, I was glad the Prez was there and he was sitting well away from everyone except his wife. No harm- No foul in my mind.
