Not sure if this is something any of you are interested in but there's a Sun Belt facebook group that is rapidly growing if you all didn't know. From like 200 members last week to 4,500 today. Just another way to connect with fans of other schools, build excitement, and grow the Sun Belt brand/following. Lots of representation from JMU, Marshall, USM so far. Not sure if it's made it's way into the circles of other schools yet so that's the reason for my post. Anyways here's the link if anyone would like in.

I shared it to a new odu fan group on Facebook. It's got about 1000 members over the last 2 or 3 weeks. But it's not super active with posters. It's made up of a lot of former players tho.

I don't know if we will see a lot of Facebook energy as a fan base.

Sweet there's a decent amount of ODU fans in there right now already. Just not as much as those 3 schools I listed (there's a poll on there for schools). I don't use FB that much admittedly but I do like that there is buzz about the Sun Belt online on multiple platforms. I would love for us to all have a great year and see the Sun Belt brand grow. We all know we're arguably the best G5 for football but I'd like that to become apparent to the general public soon too. Love that we stick up for each other instead of being cutthroat like some other conferences. looking forward to great games and lots of trash talk in 2022

I feel like ODU lost some of it's online gusto. We kind of peaked during the Capital One Mascot challenge when we voted as a fan base like crazy. The new social media manager for the football team has started breathing life back in with great content though. But I don't see ODU having a strong presence on Facebook.

But, I agree. Totally different vibe than when we joined CUSA. It just felt like a lot of resentment. "Who do they think they are going straight to CUSA from FCS?"

I think shows the excitement for the new Sun Belt. I look for that page to have 20K members before it’s over.

4,644 total members and the page was created 11 years ago with 4,412 new members this week. Thats crazy!

I joined and I really enjoyed reading the Posts and looking at the Pics of Campuses and Facilities posted by our new Conference mates.

There is so much excitement and gratitude for the Sun Belt being expressed in that Group. We are going to have a rock solid Conference full of schools that want to be in the Conference together. We need more Red Wolves to join and post.

That's impressive. And that's mostly Marshall, JMU, and Southern Miss at this point.

A guy on the odu forum here made a Facebook page a few weeks ago and it's already at about 1000 members. But it's mainly just him posting and sharing. But it's growing. I don't seeba lot of the odu fans here going to and posting as actively on Facebook as they do here tho.

It is that’s why I’m trying to spread the word and get the other schools in there. Jmu has a page of 24k fans who love Facebook and it was shared in there. That explains how we have so many in the Sun Belt group at the moment

That explains a lot. I think the lopsidedness is also a deterrent until more and more stumble in.

Whomever is moderating it will have a harder time than on here tho. It's anonymous here but there its peoples real names, faces, location, employers, whatever they share. People less likely to go there and risk someone taking a comment too far, doxing, etc. Tribalism is a thing for a reason. :)

Then you have people like me who can poke fun and rib without elevating to offensive and see it as playful. I'll have fun on the Facebook group. Then there are those that take everything as an insult.

My hope is that the Facebook page stays mostly friendly, even more so than these mostly anonymous forums, and more of a sunbelt family vibe. Leave the big time **** talking here.
