I'd hate to rely on freshmen, but App has it's highest ranked recruit ever coming in next year. Zocko Littleton is percentage points from being a 4 star recruit. I can't imagine we'll keep him off the floor.

Forrest, Delph, Lewis and Almonacy will all be gone but it looks like we’ll gain some height across the board and that’s something App sorely needs. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Kerns dip back into that transfer portal to find a good ball handler and shooter off the bench.

Delph & Lewis actually have a Covid year available. Good chance Adrian comes back, Lewis probably not.

Well then look out Sun Belt. We’ll be stacked. I’d have to think at the mid major level where most guys are 4 year guys, the lack of minutes because they’re gobbled up by Covid seniors wouldn’t be too detrimental. Then again, we’re in the transfer portal era where a guy gets impatient and bolts for more PT. It’s got to be a nightmare to navigate those muddy waters.
I'm not so sure. No physical presence in the middle. Lewis has been doing the dirty work inside and holding the best big guys in the leage in check. Nobody on the roster that can fill those shoes. With basically a 7-8 player rotation there's just too many unknowns for me to feel comfortable.

We'll need to grab a post player from the portal and likely a guard that can shoot. Some of the young guys/incoming freshmen have promise, but we won't know until they get on the court. For now, I'm just hoping to finish this year strong.

I understand the hesitance seeing that lineup but it’s better than you think. Reality is, it also could take some time to develop but look at it this way. Right now we have 3 guys that play post minutes mainly. Those are Lewis, Huntley, and Gregory. Gregory and Huntley will still be here next year. We are trading Lewis Jr for Glushkov and Duhart. Glushkov continues to add muscle. He’s going to be around the same size as Lewis Jr. He definitely will be more raw. Duhart can be very active down low. Mantis and Eads have a lot of potential as shooters and I think it would be huge if Eads could start scoring more this season to help that transition but they will definitely get their shots next year. Point guard we should be stout. Xavion Brown has been hurt but he is an athletic freak and a really good player. Harcum is very good as well. Not much drop off between the two of them. Zocko is very highly rated but he’s likely going to need a year to transition. Most do and honestly we have talent at PG.

Need to change that word “hope” to “expect”. App State basketball fans need to expect to contend for a title every year. Not just “hope we’re ok this year”.

It takes a while to get there after very little success the past 40 years.

It’s not that hard. You just have to be willing to hold people accountable.

I’m just going to have to hope because I’m not sure how to tell Coach Kerns and the players that they are accountable and answer to me. 03-wink

I do expect us to be much better than we have for the majority of our program's history, but I'm also being realistic in how difficult it is to build consistent success for a program that has had little. It's even harder to do so at our level since winning coaches usually jump ship pretty quickly for a big check.

I'm expecting us to be one of the favorites to win the tourney this year, but I am concerned about next year with several impact players graduating and nobody proven behind them. We know Kerns can coach, but we're about to find out how well he can recruit. How well will our fanbase support the team if we take a step back next year due to roster turnover?

Gillin has increased the budget and he personally has raised the bar for success across the board which was lacking in the AD's office for many years. We also need more people to give to Yosef Club and to buy tickets if we want to attract good coaches when we have a vacancy. A lot of people only think about football success when it come to YC, but our other sports are the ones who need it most.
