The MAC must think a Toledo/Miami game would end in a ugly brawl…

RE: 2022 FB conference opponents announced
Absolutely pathetic. Used to have a friendly rivalry with my sister and her husband. No reason anymore.
I have investigated this and it is possible for UT and Miami along with BG and Ball State to play each other in spite of the rivalry games if you institute a rotation for two of the cross over games and the rivalry games exist with a separate rotation of the other schools not in rivalries. WMU EMU CMU NIU would rotate playing Kent Ohio Akron and Buffalo
What you would do when a rivalry game comes up in the two game rotation is swap the opponents from the rivalry rotation. There are three instances that this would happen. Two of them would happen at the same time and the other would only affect UT BG. UT Miami would happen on a six year rotation with a home and home over two years or you could separate the games if you like.
As long as the MAC lets ESPN do its scheduling this game will never happen.

In my opinion it would be better to discontinue the games against the DIII at the start of the year and play another team from the FBS or maybe the MAC. But who am I?

Any easy fix - CHANGE THE DIVISIONS! PUT UT-bg IN THE SAME DIVISION!

What do you do with Ball State and Miami rivalry then?
Since 2011 when UT and Miami last played, UT has played Akron 6 times, Kent 4 times, Buffalo 4 times and Ohio 3 times. Bowling Green and Ball State, the other side of the rivalry has played twice in that span. Scheduling is completely arbitrary and has nothing to do with any kind of rotation.

That would have been a game I would have went to, UT at Miami. UT, should forget about D111 schools and play an FCS school, such as North Dakota State, Montana State, South Dakota State, Indiana St, Northern Iowa..... Those teams can hold their own against some power 5 teams.

Coaches need these games to boost their records!

FCS programs need it to stay afloat. 350k goes a long way in their regional leagues which dont have as much travel as a normal FBS team. P5s play us to keep us afloat, get their team reps, add a win, and get them 1 game closer to a bowl. Same with us and FCS. Same with FCS and D2.

I'd be fine with just totally redoing the divisions. They don't need to be East/West, or North/South. Redo the divisions and keep all the rivalries intact.
WMU/EMU/CMU/Akron/Kent/Buffalo
Toledo/BG/Ohio/Miami/Ball St/NIU
I don't think that would separate any real rivalries. (you got UT/BG, CMU/EMU/WMU, Akron/Kent, Ohio/Miami, BG/Miami. No other real rivalries.).

If you’re going that far, just put the six teams from Ohio in one division and the remaining six teams in the other division

Having UB & NIU in the same division would be a bit much.
