Alliance
Any word why the Big10, Pac12 and ACC hasn't invited you guys in?

Not sure if you want to join something like this but the SEC needs a counterbalance.

My general perception was SEC fans generally follow Big 12 conference next closest. No clue if the conference itself would be interested though and I haven't seen anything on it yet.

RE: Alliance
Some of us (mainly me) are hoping that the Big 12 and SEC are in negotiations for something just like that. Letting TU and OU out early in exchange for a scheduling agreement and an alliance.

RE: Alliance
I’m not sure the SEC needs an ally. I think there fans would be fine with just conference games and playing a sunbelt school or two

RE: Alliance
I don't see any alliance of SEC and B12, that being said both have a good reason to work together.

RE: Alliance
I don't see how the Alliance is going to be able to schedule on the regular in FB. They surely will do it in hoops and the rest of the olympic sports, but there are only so many OOC games and with rivalry games (UGA v. GT, Clemson v. SC, FSU v. UF, UK v. UL, etc.) and the ACC rotating games with Notre Dame, how are they going to get squeezed in? Also, I can definitely see games like Ohio State v. USC, Michigan vs. Stanford, but can anyone see Utah v. Wake Forest or Purdue v. Virginia actually happening on the grid iron?

RE: Alliance
I would love to have a counter alliance with the SEC, however I don’t see most of those schools wanting to align with us.

College football as a sport needs to have some of the powers broken up instead of all concentrated in the SEC. I wish there was a governing body that would force UT and OU to stay put. All those schools care about is money and not whats good for the game.

TV/Media killed it; smaller and regional conferences are better for fan interest, actual people in the stands, etc... The true round robin of the current Big 12 creates familiarity and year over year story lines that you just don't have when teams in the same league barely see each other.

Both sides were gangs. Our enemies became our friends and two of our friends became our enemies (China and the Soviet Union). I'd pick a better analogy if I were you. But I'd admit it's a lot like the NCAA. Unequal enforcement, a sliding scale on rules, and nobody you can ultimately trust!

As an old Big 8 guy I was used to the old round robin. But I do think 8 is too small - I’ve enjoyed the 10 team version of the Big XII. You get that familiarity to which you referred with less of “THESE guys again already? We just played them!” (Obviously a hoops notion, but I root for a basketball school after all).

Time has swept on and we’ll never have it - but I’d love to see a limit of 10 per conference, from a fan’s point of view.

Yes I’d prefer that as well, so that you don’t game teams going years and years without playing each other in the same conference (Like the SEC), but college sports has just evolved, for better or worse.

RE: Alliance
Kevin Warren has turned his back on the Alliance. The Big 10 is NOT making room for crossover games.

It's just not going to happen.

The "Alliance" was just a way to stall the CFP Expansion to 12.

The ACC is desperate to get Notre Dame to join and thought they could force their hand into joining their dying conference (to SAVE IT, if you will). Notre Dame didn't bite and now the ACC has a decade and a half to figure out how to break up.

The Big 10 is just bored with it now.

It's comedic. The Big 12 after expansion is clearly a Top 3 Conference in football and the top conference in basketball.

The Big 12 just needs to be patient now.

RE: Alliance
Is the Alliance still a thing?
I thought it was just a thing to oppose the CFP Expansion. Mission Accomplished!

The scheduling part of the Alliance was a failed concept. Too many long term contracts already signed (example, UF-FSU is signed all the way through 2037)

Since then we have seen the PAC's Kliavkoff and SEC's Sankey team up to talk to congress about a federal legislation on NIL. So its not like the SEC doesn't work with the other conferences.

Alliance is dead.
