In the late 2000s and early 2010s, local merch stores started selling gear with the bottom right logo as a quiet rebellion. It was very popular so the university renewed its trademark and started using it. There's a portion of the fanbase that wants to move on from it, but a lack of consensus on what to move to.

There's been other versions of Yosef over the years.

The "Mountaineers" script was written by Jerry Moore.

App is gradually going to the Black Block A logo as the primary logo.

I have no idea where this chart came from, but the logo shown for 1977 was never used by the university. That image was created by a guy named Daniel Dunbar for his personal avatar. I hated the Gorton's Fisherman logo and in an started a grassroots effort to bring back the 1974-82 logo. I began selling magnets at my tailgate and a friend sold flags with the logo on it. My App roommate owned a merchandise store and began selling them as well. A local online company picked up on it and started selling shirts & hats with it. The university had not registered the trademark, so it was fair game. I looked into doing so, but was informed by an attorney since the university had created it and used it prior I could not. The university didn't like losing sales so they created one very similar to, but not exactly like it, registered it and ordered the company to stop. I am still selling them, but they are in Old Gold which was App's color up until 1983.

We were a Russell school thanks to a misguided former AD, but in that time baseball was with UA. Now we are 100% Adidas. Anything is better than Russell, which is a high school outfitter. Russell gave us this pathetic football look in 2013-14:

Baseball uniforms at that time by Under Armor, at least looked good:

Hey if it was a few years earlier, it would have matched the style of the 2000s when thin piping and sectioned colors on jerseys were all the rage lol

It was the clown pants with the front one color and back another color that were mind-bogglingly terrible.

Oof yeah, I just looked at the full uniform on google and that was not a good look lol. While I'm not a fan of Adidas uniforms in general, your current one is a huge step up

Man, those wavy, paneled unis with the piping were the absolute shiznit in the 2000's. I feel like almost every team jumped onto that trend. That's one of those eras where you have to tell your kids "I know what you're thinking, but I promise I looked really cool wearing that in 2002."

If I remember right Miami was the team that really started that trend with these bad boys:

That’d the issue. USM’s Russell uniforms like that were about a decade too late.

They did look cool at the time but now look so outdated. Look at the AZ Cardinals, their uniforms look so bad compared to the rest of the league. If I'm not mistaken they're the last team to use the piping from the old Reebok templates which do not translate over to the Nike templates well at all.

And to loop it back to the vintage talk, I do like how a lot of NFL teams have decided to go back to an old uniform layout after experimenting with really bad concepts (i.e. Browns, Bucs, and to a lesser extent the Patriots). It seems like classic looks really do stand the test of time (Packers, Cowboys, Raiders, Giants, Cheifs etc)

I just wish ODU football had more history so we could have an archive of looks and logos from decades past. Seeing the old gothic lion logo on a helmet would be so cool. I wonder if ODU would dare to do a reverse retro uniform set that incorporated some of the old logos, like the interlocking racetrack ODU from the 80's, the gothic lion one as mentioned before, and others. Make it heavy on the Hudson Blue and we're set!

Here are the two tone pants, from 2013:

Here is the digital camo combined with the two-tone pants:

Those were ugly, dark times for USM football in more ways than one.

JMU folks can talk a lot of smack, but struggle a bit when backing it up. Look at Barney get pummeled by a Chanticleer.
