NNMC Player
Tyrique Weaver, who lead the Eagles with 16 points on 7 for 12 shooting versus the Aggies, is having a good year.

Last week he averaged 20.5 points and 10 rebounds and was his NAIA conference player of the week.

Northern has won 5 straight and is 7-2 on the season, not counting their 3 D1 and 3 D2 games which were exhibitions for them. Good to see their budding athletic program have some success. Ryan Cordova, Northern's coach and the schools AD, is a heck of a nice guy too.

NNMC plays in a quasi conference of lumped together independent schools from across the country. They did a 2 game road swing thru California, have 2 game road trips to Illinois, Arkansas, and near Kansas City. And I'm sure they are hitting the interstates, not the airports.

They only get 7 home games this season. And their only home games after November 17 are a December 10/11 series against Benedictine Mesa, and a January 14/15 series versus SAGU American Indian College.

These players really do it for the love of the game. Glad we play them too.

RE: NNMC Player
NNMC will get another crack at a D1 team as unm has scheduled them for a fill in game. The Mountain West scheduling (with cancellations, and make up games that prompted more schedule rearranging) left the loobs with only 1 game for about a 2 week period.

Northerns schedule is basically over because of their limited independent schedule. They are 12-3 in official games versus NAIA teams and 0-6 in exhibitions versus 3 D1 teams (us, UTEP, and Northern Colorado) and 3 D2 (ENMU and Highlands twice) games. Some other games were cancelled because of Covid. I would not be surprised to see them pick up more games as so few teams are available this time of year. Unm only had to pay $5K to get the game. They still have a chance to make the NAIA tournament as they have an Independent qualifier tournament at the end of February.

I would love to see them embarrass unm. Let’s go Eagles!
