Three games in a row that ACU is playing like a DIII team: Getting outplayed and outcoached both by GCU.

Now that's funny!

I wish they’d do something about that. One second it’s normal volume, then commercial and I got Lily from ATT blowing out my eardrum talking about lollipops.

Jesus the refs are whistle happy tonight... It's even for both NMSU and Tarleton but we are getting weird calls.

Welcome to the WAC! COGS So far GCU is playing very well. Currently 73-51 with about 9 minutes left.
Saturday's game at NMSU is probably going to be even more difficult.

The Junior Aggies completely ran out of gas. Not good having to play GCU on Saturday. I don’t get playing 5 guys 40 minutes a game.

From the GCU article about the game:

"Two NCAA tournament teams from last spring took the GCU Arena floor, but only one played like it could be back this spring."

95 points. Wow.

RE: WAC MBB Week #10
UTRGV and Lamar caught Chicago State at a good time, without top scorer Dibba, Jahsean Corbett, the third leading scorer or big man Ba Mendeng. This is Lamar's best chance to get a Division 1 win this season.

Without 6'9" Ba Mendeng they are an awfully small team, and Dibba had been scoring well for them, Corbett has been a consistent offensive player. Without Dibba and Corbett, that's almost 28 points per game gone.

Perhaps Chicago can still pull off the road win in Beaumont, but I'm not too very optimistic. CSU is down to playing with 6 players, plus 2 true freshmen--a guy who has only seen the court in 4 games, and another with 7 minutes of action in 3 games.

I found that watching the game with a sound bar or surround sound was worse that just listening through the TV speakers. Not sure if it was a mono/stereo issue with the feed coming from ESPN or what.

Good tough game for NMSU. Best of luck the rest of the way, except when you come to Stephenville.

Tarleton is a tough team but it’s obvious you guys just don’t have the depth yet. Give Billy G. a couple more recruiting classes and Tarleton will be a force to be reckoned with. It took NMSU years of consistently winning and building a culture around a program to get to the point of where we can comfortably go 5 deep into our bench. And even last night we played without our starting PG, backup center and probably our best guy off the bench in Chi Chi Avery. As you guys stepped up to a higher level it’s gonna be a rough ride the first couple of years but given what we’ve seen so far out of the Tarleton program I think you all are ahead of the curve compared to most transitioning programs.

You know I really wish that were the case, but if I'm just being honest, the AGGIE offense just isn't smooth at all. It comes and goes in spurts. Defensively, we have been pretty steady, but I just don't think our offense is going to allow us to really pull away from people this year. We are also turnover prone, so we like to give other teams extra possessions. Tarleton just wasn't able to take advantage of it in the second half.

Ya'll shot the cover off the basketball last night, that's for sure!

GO AGGIES!!!

GCU probably played their best game of the season last night. They shot lights out and ACU took it hard on the chin. Unless NMSU produces their best game of the season as well, I expect ACU to be more competitive with NMSU on Saturday. The NMSU/GCU road trip is probably the toughest week in the WAC. The biggest mistake for ACU was to drop two home games prior to this road stretch.

It’s weird because when I watch on my phone everything comes in at the same level but I do have this problem when I watch on my TV. Two different TVs, same result.

Ya. Our home broadcasts do the same, just not as bad. I had to turn the volume up all the way on the sound bar last night. Commercials blew the windows out of the house!

I definitely don't see us returning. We have always been outsized, but lately we are getting outhustled and outcoached. That is unlike us. Hopefully we just end up with a decent season. One of the key guys that could have helped us out in the paint last night was out for COVID. That's not why we lost though. GCU planned and executed well and showed they deserve the chance to return.

Yesterday was by far GCU's best game. Everyone was hitting their shots which is not normal. We shall see if GCU can replicate that on Saturday against Tarleton in front of a national audience.

I don’t know if other schools do this, but I think the Aggies coming down onto the court from above the student section is really cool. Smoke and lights and the team walking down the steps between the students and the band is awesome.

Also, the Aggie folks we met were the nicest bunch of people. I hope Tarleton fans are as nice to opposing fans as the Aggie fans were to the wife and I. Enjoyed some 1888 beers and great conversations in the beer garden. We were wearing Tarleton purple regalia so we stood out and were easily visible. And numerous Aggie fans came up to us and thanked us for coming to game and to Las Cruses. Overall a great trip outside of the final score.

Well done NMSU!!!!!

Well done NMSU!!!!!

Glad to hear you and your wife enjoyed your time in Cruces! We always try to be classy fans, minus the usual student BS. The WAC tends to have nice fans for every team. My favorite one was when I was a student at NMSU working the NMSU GCU game. The parents of the GCU players were the kindest I have met for opposing fans, even showing interest in getting a cool designed Aggie shirt.

I hope to hear more good stories like this outside of WACvegas!.
