2011 for the Women, 2013 for the Men. Both were auto bids from the Great West Conference tournament championship.

That 2010-2011 season for Chicago State’s women's team was special. They played several power schools close, and dominated conference play. They eventually lost in the semifinals against Bakersfield in OT.

For the mens team— that was the year Dan Schumacher (AD at the time) got a TV deal to have their home GWC games streamed on ESPN3 and available on ESPN Full Court. Their opening game in the CIT at UIC was on it too.. Lakeshore Television I believe.

The best squad after their Independent days to me has to be the 2013-14 season where they went 8-8 in the WAC. I still believe had their starting guard, Jamere Dismukes, not gotten injured for the year just four games in they would’ve been competing for the top spot in the WAC.

Schumacher was outstanding. Very engaged with the fans. Lakeshore was televising 10 games a year. I was surprised he left.

Even though it wasn't a post season year, that was possibly Chicago's best team. RPI was in the 170-180 range IIRC. That's nothing to sneeze at by any measure.
