On a positive note, instead of not being able to watch the other teams in the conference as much because all the games are played mostly at the same time, adding a Thursday slate to Tuesday and Saturday with some Friday is fine by me. Of course, I don’t have to play the games and for the players, I think three games per week will get old fast.

Was coming here to ask why? Just doesn’t make sense to me.

A related scheduling note. Kowalcyzk at Toledo made some comments about the Tuesday/Sat format that the MAC switched to a few years back (used to be Wed/Sat). Said he doesnʻt like it because it forces the staff to work Sundays for Tuesday game prep and not have time for their families. When the weekday game was Wednesday the team would take Sunday off and do their scout and game prep on Monday. Insightful point on how game schedules can create balance or imbalance. Weʻve already seen the football side commit to the midweek Maction which puts extra stress on the athletes to travel and play during the school week and makes it hard for students and fans to attend games. Perhaps, the MAC leadership needs to understand the conference niche as a true regional mid sized university league that balances sports, academics and travel. Deciding not to expand beyond the geographic footprint for travel, cost, academic reasons could be complemented by scheduling approaches that best support student athletes, fans and staff.

A lot of high school games are on Tuesdays too (at least across Ohio - not sure about other states), which eats away a potential local fans and players who might otherwise make games.

If KSU wins tonight by a low score, number of good teams in the MAC will shrink. But it’s still early in the season.

Just hope EMU leading the MAC in scoring (83.3 per game) against weak teams and shooting 63 percent on two’s, is no fluke. Like that EMU won 5 out of their last 7 games, and only lost the 2 they did by failing to defend the three-point line. Hope they keep playing well. They’ll be tested when Toledo, Ohio, Buffalo, MOH, and Akron.

TK also commented that he knows why the MAC has gone to the Tuesday/Saturday Format to allow for MAC National Televised Games on Friday nights which would not be practical if the Men played on Wednesday nights.

Huskies play just their 2nd home game of the entire season and win their 2nd straight game 77-70 over EMU.
