Akron's Backup QB: A Hot Commodity in the Transfer Portal
Akron backup QB Zach Gibson will be making official visits to Nebraska and Georgia Tech.

I understand the interest. Bowling Green was having its way with Akron until the Zips' starter went down with an injury. Gibson came in and looked like Tom Brady against the Falcons.

My standing assumption is that FBS head football coaches know more about football than I do, but it is weird that he was on the bench. Once he got in that game, it was like a whole new team out there.

Gibson is a great player. Lots of talent and confidence for a young guy. Akron would have won a lot more games if he had more talent around him.

Yes, bad teams can still have some good players. I actually felt Akron had some decent talent on offense last season. The offense line was just utter garbage so you really never got to see it.

We were lucky to beat him. We had defenders in his face all game and he wasn't fazed.

Yeah. With a better offensive line, Bowling Green would probably be in a bowl game right now.

Didn't Akron's top receiver enter the portal too?

Yes, I think that might be the bigger loss. I feel Irons will do well in Moorhead's system assuming the offensive line can improve.

Yeah. With a better offensive line, Bowling Green would probably be in a bowl game right now.

With a better o-line, Toledo would be MAC champs.

On defense if EMU had a better DL, and LBs and on offense a running scheme (personnel no issue) - we would be MAC champs

this is the most accurate of the "with a better..." comments. Damn, how do you whiff on a perfect snap with the game on the line. It's like the one skill a holder needs to have other than "laces out".

With more wins in the MAC CCG this year, we would be the MAC champs!
