Musing While We Don't Have a Monday MACtion Bowl Game Thread?
The WMU / Nevada game at Ford Field is a really good game.
Very good crowd. Good offenses. Some hard hitting. And a kickoff return of 100 yards.
And I'm conflicted: Who is the best MAC team? The champ, NIU? WMU? CMU?
And how did we beat Western?
And will a good CMU team (at least they looked really good vs. us) beat Boise?
TD Western. WMU has Nevada on the run...

WMU did indeed look good, but remember that Nevada also was playing without their starting QB and several defensive starters as well. Not to mention their head coach also left before the bowl game.
How did we beat them? We played better on that Tuesday night.

And their receiver core, too.
I don't want to sound negative because I love bowl season (when I worked I took two vacations a year, one week for March Madness in Vegas and then the week between Christmas and New Years), but the value of these bowl games are getting reduced or diminished due to every factor mentioned (injury, transfer, opt- out, Covid, etc.).
That said, WMU and their fans showed up big today.

The word is that CMU has lost multiple d-linemen to the portal. It probably will not be the same defense we saw in November.

Frank as usual you are dead on. They beat a decimated Nevada team.
And yes, we beat them and Toledo on Tuesday nights. That said, the Broncos and Rockets clearly once again had the most talented teams in the MAC and that was reflected in the All MAC selections.

BTW, isn't EMU glad it wasn't sent to Arizona for the bowl with Boise State which appears seriously in doubt. Detroit News' Tony Paul wonders if CMU might yet play Washington State in the Sun Bowl or even in the Arizona Bowl.

Here are TV ratings so far. Will be interested to see how yesterday's QL bowl game fared. Even though 11 a.m. isn't prime time for most (it is for me. Lol.) lot of people take the week between Christmas and New Years off and do things like watch bowl games...

You are correct. I'd add 'football in general.' Fans will watch NFL games when the teams are of no interest to them. Does anyone in Green Bay care about Jacksonville?
