RE: OT: Positive COVID test
I'm listening to the SCOTUS argument about the the OSHA vaccine mandate and Kagan just said that "Omicron is as deadly as delta." She's either really misinformed or she's deliberately lying.

Now Breyer insinuated that the OSHA mandate would prevent all future COVID infections. This is literally taking all of the extreme leftists points, even those that provably false, and allowing them to be spewed by Supreme Court justices during oral argument. Truly bizarre.

Sotomayor claimed that COVID deaths are at an all-time high. Comical.

I am surprised (and really discouraged) that those comments came from Justices Kagan and Breyer. I have always considered them to be extraordinarily bright.

The Sotomayor comments does not surprise me. She is an embarrassment.

Because it doesn't care if you wear a mask either.

This is a sports message board. And discussion about a virus is not on topic, so it’s moved to off topic. Imagine that.

Listen, I get it. You moderators have a thankless job (and I really do appreciate it).

Except the virus has prevented our teams from playing games in weeks…maybe there is some relevance. Just a thought.

If you’re discussing the team not playing bc of the virus, that would be one thing. It’s also not what is being talked about in this thread.

Don't think they've made a ruling yet.

I've gone crazy. I swear I saw a post asking about the SCOTUS ruling.

RE: OT: Positive COVID test
Whelp. Finally caught up to me. Daughter brought it home from school last week, the whole block of kids she eats lunch with are out which is the only time they’re unmasked. The rest of the family went down like dominoes with myself the last to have symptoms starting Tuesday. Worst of it is over now. Had pretty bad sinus pain and headache, followed by body aches for about a day and a half. Now just stuffy nose, off and on headache. I tried to walk the dog and got wore out pretty quickly. I’d rate it worse than a cold less than the flu. Everyone seemed to have slightly different symptoms though. Hoping they’re right about our super immunity being vaccinated and infected.

Fast forward to the 1:38 point:

The cruelty done to a generation of kids, just so that we adults can feel safe for a disease with minimal quantifiable danger, is near unforgivable.

Mask are a pain in the ass, I don't like them as much as the next guy. But that was a little melodramatic. Assuming those tears were real (and I'm not doubting they were), then clearly masks were tougher on her than most students. She didn't mention virtual teaching, which I think was hundreds of times more damaging to children's education than wearing masks in school. But her life was not ruined. Maybe she had higher goals than becoming a political commentator on TV so she thinks her life was ruined. This generation of kids certainly suffered a setback. We all did in some way. Could we have responded better to the pandemic? Absolutely. Would we have been better off with no response? I don't believe so. It needed to be somewhere in between. But there will be people that believe their lives were ruined by the pandemic response. Some were, some suffered some consequences, but most will be fine. I just think it is a little premature for her to say her life was ruined. I hope she can work through her anger and get past it.
