Tomorrow's LaSalle game is postponed as well. No surprise.

RE: LaSalle Postponed
seems like a great idea to have the flyers and eagles playing at the stadium complex at the same time. i'm afraid to look at whether they're "encouraging public transportation" as they would normally do.

They are. It will be a total sh!tshow down there. You know that all of the drunk Eagles fans on the packed subway trains won't be wearing masks so that's a super spreader event right there.

Also, there are thousands of fans who purchased separate Eagles parking passes for the Wells Fargo Center lots, and access to the WFC club before Eagles games. Now those fans with WFC parking passes have to park in different lots, because only fans with Flyers tickets can park at the WFC.

Total mess and total embarrassment by the NFL to move the game. Fortunately, I don't give any money directly to that league, other than through my cable bill.

Traffic nightmare resolved. No Flyers game tonight.

interesting that the big east is making them forfeit.

my perspective on the eagles game changed on saturday when we were the team that had the issues. i think you can try to do all the right things and still get sick one way or another. that's not to say you quit and don't try to do the right things of course. it wasn't fair the way some fans and sports media were piling on washington (there's plenty of other things to pile on them about anyway) unless they were out at strip clubs like that guaranteed bust of a qb haskins.

i do think the nfl bailed on their tough talk at the beginning of the season about forfeits and deserve criticism for that. they shouldn't have said anything back then. forfeits are a bit harsh especially at the college level i think.

The game was scheduled for Sunday so they should have had to play on Sunday. Covid didn't magically go away between Sunday and Tuesday, and teams need to prepare for the unpreparable and do the best with whatever players they have. There are enough unemployed pro football players out there looking for jobs that they should be able to fill rosters and get the games played on scheduled dates.

Also, what is your take on the NFL's new "don't ask, don't tell" policy. Basically, they're not requiring testing for vaccinated players anymore who are asymptomatic, so they're pretty much letting players play with Covid. That might be OK in football, but I don't see how that could work in basketball as the sports are two different animals in terms of exposure to others.

apparently washington is still down 2 qbs and something like 15 players. so waiting didn't even do anything.

i have a sports medicine colleague i need to ask about this. on one hand...i get the argument that pro athletes out of any population are most likely to have mild if any disease. on the other...we all have to do our part to limit spread because one way or another it could wind up with a susceptible person. apparently i still have this fantasy of sports showing leadership. they were the first to shut down after all.

maybe that is the next step...that we get more comfortable only testing people if they have symptoms or they're around higher risk people. i do think it opens the door for covering things up...which obviously is the concern...but maybe that's a road we had to go down eventually anyway.

we're learning as we go.

Waiting did cost WFT 7 position coaches for the game.
