Fire Sean Frazier, PLEASE! Doesn't ISU already host several other state championships?

I'm at the point where I would happily start a "Fire Sean Frazier" twitter account if some on here stated that they would like and promote.

Turned on this class 2A game and the attendance was pretty poor. Maybe 2k in the stands???

Should have picked DeKalb and Huskie Stadium.

Sorry but NIU fans --- like this administration --- have no appreciation for Huskie history or the past. When Dee Abrahamson was softball coach, NIU very successfully hosted the state finals at Mary Bell Field. On occasion, both the Huskie softball, baseball, and soccer facilities have often served as hosts to either regional or sectional championships. Super-sectional boys basketball games were always staged in Evans Field House and also the Convo. The big difference, unlike when Mike Korcek and Steve Nemeth handled things, the current NIU media relations staff refuses to help in any way. Huskie Stadium was also once the site for the IHSA soccer finals back when it was originally all one big bracket. Unfortunately too many of the current media outlets with drastically reduced staffs no longer have people who remember what NIU used to with the IHSA.

Should have picked DeKalb and Huskie Stadium.

Why? Because they deserve it? Town wants it more? Better....what?

Wilmington and it's 5000 residents is almost exactly same distance and time to both cities.

Athens and it's 2000 residents is near Springfield 67 miles from Normal, 177 to DeKalb.

Because NIU was getting better attendance. ISU is on pace to get maybe 16k in attendance for all the games. NIU was getting 25k+ even with pandemic years. Plus, most of the best teams and population are north of I-80.

To top it off, ISU and U of I already host most of the other IHSA sports playoffs/championships.

Kind of a silver lining to our SIU loss is that it probably was the difference in SIU getting a bid over ISU.

Not sure how or why, but hope something can be done because I reported three posts involving back-and-forth with Big Red that were NOT posted by me!

It was a 2A game and at that point you said mistake!

Rochester they said had whole side. Nazareth had well over 1/2.

I mean seriously? You "estimate" based on smaller school games? And you think the 7a and 8a would generally mean more attending? That would not be going out on a limb since probably 80%+ of those schools are in the Chicagoland vicinity.

If DeKalb was where Normal is and NIU where ISU is you and everyone else would justify why it should be in Normal with one reason after the next.

If the Bears ever build their new stadium. Let the high school kids play there. After reading some Twitter comments I think NIU probably was the best place for attendance. Casual fans or even extended family probably don’t want to drive down to Normal the day after thanksgiving, but if you are traveling from the burbs, DeKalb is an easy drive. I know it isn’t central location, but when 90% of the population is above I-80, it does make sense.

Does DeKalb have the hotel capacity to handle the finals? Teams from 3+ hours away probably would want to stay over night. Would gans drive up and back on game day if 8 hours in a car?

I've gone to NIU and went to ISU Saturday.

Parking was great, compared to NIU, and stadium is nice.

Apparently the player accommodations for lower classes sucked.

NIU definitely closer, but I took old 66 which is fun

Hotel capacity between DeKalb and Sycamore is more than sufficient for the few lower class teams that would need it. More than likely, the upper four classes would come to the game and not spend a night.
