2021 AAC Football Attendance
ECU averaged 36,059.

I feel okay about that number considering we started 0-2 and had 6 consecutive losing seasons before this year. Also, a rainy Thursday & a Black Friday game, both on national TV, were factors. Next year the average should be well over 40K for the year, with ECU sporting a quality team and having NCSU at home to kick off a pretty good home slate.

How'd the rest of the league do?

RE: 2021 AAC Football Attendance
I think UCF announced around 40k. Actual butts in seats probably around 38k if I had to guess. Kind of disappointed, but we had two rain delay games, one for close to four hours against Boise State for Gus’ opener. That probably would have been a near sellout otherwise. Home slate was also relatively weak.

Next year we host Georgia Tech, Louisville, Navy, Cincinnati, SMU, and Temple. We should be seeing a good crowd resurgence with that.

Cincinnati had virtual sellouts every game, even though the opposition schools usually returned their allotments late in the week.

Sort of the downside of the program. My tail gate crew of twenty cannot wait till the last second to get tickets together.04-jawdrop

RE: 2021 AAC Football Attendance
Well at Tulane beacuse ita in NOLA supreme city leader Cantrell didnt allow tailgating or pregame festivities, while requiring mask and proof of vaccine. The team couldn't play defense and we played two home games in other teams stadiums due to Hurricane. So yeah our attendance sucked more than normal.

You can post whatever you want, but we know the attendance number you identified is substantially inflated. ECU is improving, but its on-the-field performance has been mediocre or below for its entire tenure in the AAC. Expect you guys to be upper echelon in the remade conference line-Up with Cincy, UCF and Houston off to the Big 12, but with what will be left in this league, that’s not particularly noteworthy.

I believe it's just based on tickets sold, like all attendance numbers. No disputing ECU being a bust in AAC but the reasons for that are well documented. Congrats on improving and progressing as a program! My hope is that ECU is an upper echelon team next year while you guys are still around. That said, Cincy, UCF, & UH's accomplishments are impressive and hard earned. Cincy set an example this year for sure.

Yeah, all the Johnny-Come-Latelies need to get their sheet together. Had a friend complain about his seat location (HS Pavillion). Asked how I got my great seat location. It's called having season tickets for 31 seasons dude.

I was at 4 games and can say that at least for the games I was at, the announced attendance was fairly spot-on. The announced does equal what’s sold to the best of my knowledge but to suggest that things are “substantially inflated” is a peculiar thing to state without evidence.

Also, what benefit would inflating numbers give anyone? The answer is none.

Good luck in the playoff. I am driving through your state at this cery moment, now just south of Columbus. It must feel good knowing that y’all are in and that OSU is not.

There is plenty of evidence that numbers are inflated. Announced does not represent what is sold. Announced can be anything. What it often means is total tickets sold, given away for free, deeply discounted, i.e. $10 or less, a used toy (toys for tots campaign) or all military persons, veterans etc. or just what sounds like a good number.

What benefit does inflating numbers do? Why do schools
inflate the capacity of their stadium. It makes them look better in the eyes of the beholder.

Before the b12 invite I believe UC did it. That stadium was packed for the championship game against Houston - they could have sold thousands and thousands more tickets, yet it wasn’t a record game. They list some 40k bs for other games where i personally witnessed many empty seats.

Well, if you’re excited about being favorites over Rice, Charlotte, FAU and North Texas, be my guest. ECU, UAB, UTSA, SMU and Memphis should be the upper echelon teams in the reconstituted conference. That was my only point. Merry Christmas.
