RE: MAC Commissioner's Statement regarding Cure Bowl
Good to see.
If that was Michigan vs. Georgia, they would've spent 10 minutes reviewing every aspect of that play and put the 2 seconds back on the clock. But since it was the little ol' MAC and Sun Belt, refs just wanted to head out and get a beer.
I like Hammock, wish he was our coach. But man, when you're within the red zone with about 15-20 seconds left on the clock, it's gotta be just a few endzone strikes. Otherwise things can go wrong like we saw.

I get the feeling Hammock want to get a little closer so we could run the ball in.

I honestly can't think of any other game where our conference has made a public statement about officiating.

Not to mention the end of the first half where they review a play, a guy is tackled in bounds, they add MORE time to the clock and let them kick a FG.

I certainly don’t remember the Commissioner making a statement about the MAC crew of officials who screwed Toledo out of an actual completed pass for a TD against EMU because the clock ran out before the snap—when it took forever for them to mark the ball ready for play with the clock running & then the official STANDING over the ball so we COULDN’T snap it. This needs to be a point of emphasis for officials next season. There needs to be reasonable & fair urgency shown in the last 30 seconds of a half or game.

Agree with the commissioner statement especially since felt the officials where call penalties and not letting anything really go, except at the end of the game.

They need to be willing to stop the clock and get the call right.

There was the so called field goal at Syracuse.

Correct, I don't even recall the MAC Commissioner putting out a public statement about officiating for that play that led Syracuse to defeat Toledo on an incorrectly called made FG.

That was one of the few worst calls I have ever seen.

That was unreal, seeing the ball clearly in front of the post like that.
I remember a lot of talk afterwards of challenging the loss, which I understand.
If that was the final play of the game, whereas that miss would've given Toledo the win, right then and there, I believe the outcome could've been reversed afterwards (though even that is no guarantee).
The unfortunate problem for Toledo is that had they reversed the call (29-27 Syracuse), the next Toledo series wouldn't have gone exactly the way it unfolded when it was 30-27. The play-calling would've been slightly different - less emphasis on getting a TD - so how that series went would've been an unknown.
But that was a huge kick in the nutz for UT.

I was at that game and felt it was very fair. The referees were waiting for the sideline judges to be ready.
