RE: Next Year / Randy Sanders Retirement
IMO, Scott and Quarles covered their butts. They kept the bulk of the assistants because they have the experience, the players and fan approval, the recruiting contacts, hopefully blunt an exodus of players to the transfer portal and they are proven winners.

Quarles choose a OC that has no experience at the D1 level. So keep Rader who has D1 experience, been a OC and a head coach. If you watched the Bucs practice, Rader prepared the entire offense except for the QBs and the gameday playcalling.

Quarles also is bringing an inexperienced OL coach. A walkon at Furman, decided he wanted to coach, was a TE end coach a couple of years and promoted to OL coach last year. Our OL was considered to be at least one of the top three in the league. No way could the Bucs could have a terrific running game without a excellent OL.

All three new guys, Quarles, OC and OL have a combined 6 yrs of D1 experience. It pales in comparison to the coaches they replaced.

With the retaining of majority of staff, the Bucs should have a excellent chance of continuing their winning ways barring major injuries and/or lose a lot players to transfer portal. Defense should remain above average. Hopefully, the new OC will have an explosive offense as promised (simular to what Western Caroilna, VMI or Sanford ran), which will make the defense better. Less time on the field, more playing time for 2nd and 3rd team backups, fresher bodies for the entirety of game.

New recruits, a month away. Spring practice should give us a lot to talk about. Can't wait till football season.

GO BUCS

Does anyone know about Quay winning the award tonight? I certainly think he should win it but that is me. Hoping someone has some inside info.

Just curious...............why do you think he should win it over the other two finalists? I'm not saying he *shouldn't* win it, or that he doesn't deserve it.............but why him over Barriere? (They could even give it to Kelley again, altho that tends to not happen.) Barriere was 5th and 2nd the last 2 years, and QBs have an advantage in general. And Barriere is a real gem. And so is Holmes; so just wondering, in your opinion, why him?

Ok..........and while I'm at it..........why wouldn't you put this in the Walter Payton Award thread?

See the "Walter Payton award" thread for the winner announcement.

Great interview, with several interesting questions asked and answered. Thanks for the link.

(Poster will like it, with everyone still referring to FCS as I-AA.)

Yeah, that's good stuff. I-AA!!

That Tony guy, tho, always, whenever he's talking ETSU, gives a load of backhanded compliments. Just *keeps* saying "at that level". Yes, it's true, but it comes across as condescending.
