Texas Southerns schedule makes them hard to gauge. Until the Florida game. Then they came into focus, and RGV got them right after...

Even though there is a long way to go, at this point in the season, I expected RGV to be worse. I thought you'd completely fall off and be a complete rebuild. But there are good signs there already. No shame in this loss to TSU.

RE: WAC MBB Week #6
I watched the end of the Tarleton game and they were trying very hard to give that one away. Multiple times Tarleton got the ball back by creating a turnover or forcing a bad shot only to come down the court to create a turnover or force a bad shot. Not very smart basketball towards the end and very, very bad defense. You never wanna see the other team dunking the ball so many times in the last 3 min when you’re trying to clamp down and get stops.

Question for Tarleton fans, cuz idk if they play like this the whole game or if it was just the part I saw last night. But do you think your team has a hard time switching the intensity from defense to offense when it needs to be? On several possessions I saw Tarletons defense running around like crazy with their hair on fire and it created a turnover but they also brought it back up the court that way. One time resulted in your guy going up for a layup and getting viciously blocked when he should have brought it back out or at least go up strong. Felt like their adrenaline got going too much and they didn’t slow down and get a good shot save for a couple of wide open threes. Even the drives made were on very tough shots.

Why does Stephen F. Austin even play sports? To get a 14 seed and lose in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament? Hell that isn’t happening in the WAC. All we heard about was how great the exposure was… yet here you are getting passed up in realignment for an FCS Football school. SFA is terrible at football and baseball as well. Why even play sports at this point. Just shut down Athletics and spend the money on your dying university.

Washington State deserves to lose tonight, simply for playing us in Spokane previously. Cowards wouldn't play us in Pullman until now. Their NET is around 40 currently.

For those that don't know, one of their players is Dennis Rodman's son.

I'm ready to get this one going and take a win from the Pac 12 again.

Wazzu's coach is originally from El Paso. He came over from San Francisco and had some success with the Dons. Previously at Columbia U, and one of the few coaches with much success there. Also long time assistant at USF and Saint Marys.

Lamar continues to struggle falling at Texas State this evening. Lamar did get two of their injured players back but have another key player out with an injury. I can't tell what this team might do if they could stay healthy, but right now they can't find any consistent scoring.

ACU beats Cal State Bakersfield in a mighty defensive battle. The Wildcats were a bit off shooting but CSB played good defense. It was a good OOC win for the WAC. They were on a winning streak and were a real challenge. Once again, the ACU defense was outstanding.

Credit to CSU Bakersfield. That was a VERY physical game and they came in swinging. I knew it was going to be tough. We still got sloppy at times and we need to clean it up. After the other WAC losses though, glad we could pull one out. Sorry that we have another DIII game before Longwood and UVU.

Our schedule is not a cupcake OOC schedule. Cupcakes are ranked in the high 200's and 300's of the NET Rankings. Every team we've played is in the top 200 and we're 3-1 vs QUAD 1 and QUAD 2 teams.

PojoaquePosse is being sarcastic. Because Intolerable Texan seems to think NMSU plays a cupcake schedule.

RE: WAC MBB Week #6
Nice to pick them off in an actual road game instead of the neutral court BS. But I have to admit, when it got to 18, I started to get a little nervous.

I feel like we made that game more difficult than we needed to at times. Little mistakes keep adding up. However, I'm pretty happy with the last 12 or so minutes.

Neither team was ever really on fire, nor falling apart. But once we got going in the second half, we just kept whittling away at the lead. I expected WSU to go on a spurt once we cut it to 3, and again when we tied it up, but they didn't and didn't get much to fall late in the game.

Even if we DID have an easy schedule, I think I'd prefer that to having no D1 wins at this point in the season, like some schools. Mainly MEAC and SWAC schools, but there are a few others.....

NMSU knows how to win ugly. And, they know how to grind out wins in close games. NMSU should get a little stronger and deeper once Donnie Tillman returns from his recent injury and Clayton Henry works out the cobwebs after rehabbing from his preseason injury; two starters from last season's Aggie team. Now, NMSU finishes out their OOC schedule with two cupcakes... Northern New Mexico and UT Permian Basin. The Aggies "should" be 11-2 entering WAC play.

Oh my bad. NMSU schedule is ranked 63rd on the KenPom rankings so Intolerable Texan needs to stop drinking whatever he is drinking.

Actually he should share what he is drinking with us Aggies next time we play Bama.. Might help ease the pain beside the $1.9 Million dollar pay check.

Tarleton is making a pretty penny being fodder for big name programs too. All they have to do is check their athletic budget and know their winless record is worth every loss, because they'll have no post season anyway while in transition. And when they become FBS in football, they can double their efforts and be rolling in the dough.

Went to bed early after using up my free 5 minutes for the month of Pac-12 network, during that time it looked Washington State was going to run away with it.

Congratulations on a great win.

RE: WAC MBB Week #6
Several people laughed at us Aggie posters when we said NMSU has a hard time scheduling P5 schools. They mocked Jans and Moccia for saying the same thing. WSU had very little to gain last night and a lot to lose. With the win, NMSU moved up 18 spots in the NET to #62. WSU dropped 16 spots from 43 to 59 with the loss. WSU also counts as a quad 1 win. We are 2-1 in quad 1 and 1-0 in quad 2. Not too shabby.

Think about that next time you criticize NMSU for saying they can't get P5's to schedule them. BTW, in the regular season, Jans is 6-4 against P5's and 2 of those losses were down to the wire nail biters against #1 Kansas (we were winning with 4 minutes to go) and a good USC team that sent 2 players to the NBA.

RE: WAC MBB Week #6
After the OOC is almost over it’s still hard to gauge who’s the top team in the WAC. NMSU looks good at times and looks terrible 5 min later but we find a way to win. We have been consistently inconsistent but with the exception of the rivalry loss to UNM and the Utah St nightmare we’ve found a way to win in the end.

UVU looks very tough. And they are. But like us I feel they can be inconsistent as well. Beating BYU one week and then losing to SUU the next. GCU, CBU, Seattle, SFA, and ACU have all been good at times but have also dropped some games I think they should have won. The rest are struggling to get their legs under them. WAC play starts soon. Who’s going to emerge as top dawg this year?

SFA (8-3) vs. #7 KANSAS (8-1)

SAT. 7:00 P.M. ESPN+

This will not be another Duke upset, and could get ugly fast.
